Question about the CWS????

    Did I miss something, When did the Championship game of the CWS become a Best of three????

    Was this ESPN's Doing????

    This year is a perfect example of why the change was made. It's a double elimination tournament. Texas had no losses and CSF one. Under the old system, Texas would be runner-up with only one loss. Now it's truly a double elimination tournament. ESPN has the flexibility to schedule a best 2 out of 3. CBS does not. If there is a game 3 on Monday, CBS cannot risk losing it's Monday Night lineup.

    How long ago was it that the team with one loss had to beat the team with no losses TWICE in the championship matchup?

    I wanna say early to mid 90s.
