Hey Tiger Fans. Great site. I am reading with interest your posts about your coaching search. Being a long time Louisville Fan, I do understand the cardinals dilemma in keeping a great coach. We will probably never be considered a big football school and therefore will be a stepping stone to other more prominent colleges for our coaches. Most of the Louisville fans that I am talking to don't want Petrino back. Not because we don't understand the big business aspects of college coaching, but because 7 days ago Petrino just blew a bunch of smoke up our asses about wanting to stay in Louisville after signing a nice contract enhancement. What we really don't like is a big distraction before a bowl game. Three years in a row we have had bowl game distractions because of coaching conflicts. It's getting old.

It's been five straight years for us.
Is it really necessary to post personal gossip? I mean, geez, we've all seen enough crap, true and otherwise, posted on this board over the last two weeks...do we really have to turn it into the online version of a supermarket tabloid? Is that what we've come to?
I guess coaching rumors are the price you pay for having a good team. I've can't remember seeing so many bowl games where the coach has already left or is rumored to be leaving. It makes it really hard to pick who covers the spread:wink:
If Skip is wasting his time trying to make "Arkansas officials paranoid" instead of trying to find us a quality coach then this search is in big time trouble. From what I have seen so far it looks like Skips long list isn't that long and lacks the high quality candidates many expected. Interviewing Nutt looks like an Aw $hit now who do we interview deal more than hey Nutt is a quality coach. Hopefully what we are seeing is only the tip of the iceburg and there is much more stuff going on that we know nothing of.
Some of you people are UNREAL... Louisville beat Fla State a few years back when Fla State was #1 if I remember correctly. You talk about a weak OOC schedule, Our OOC schedule is usually pretty weak also. You guys talk about coaching records for some of these coaches not being all that great well Nicks wasn't either. Some of you guys probably were the same ones doubting NS when he was named HC 5 years ago. I don't care what some of these guys coaching records are, doesn't mean squat, coaching in BR will fatten that! I think Petrino might be the man but prefer Del Rio. BTW, If your coach wins a NC and 2 SEC Championships you would be crazy not to at least interview someone he recommends.

Great solution. Our friends at University of Kentucky are trying that crappy coach angle and it seems to be working for them. LMAO. Like you said. They don't have to worry about those pesky bowl games either.
Agreed. After learning that Saban gave Nutt his endorsement in the event that he ever left, Skip has had more time to prepare for this and gather information than what we'll ever know. I'm sure he had a real long list, but now that it's official, and Saban's no longer, that "long list" has weeded itself down to the cream of the crop, and Skip is working on that short list. IMO. After reading up on all of the candidates, I started actively supporting Butch Davis--pretty much due to name-sake, but I've since changed my opinion and have switched my support to Bobby Petrino (or Petrineaux, as someone put it!!! ) Petrineaux's Louisville team finished the season with the top-ranked offense and the 18th-ranked defense. He also runs the ball, as the Cardinals had a 1,000 yard rusher (I believe it was around 1,300 actually). Petrino has my confidence that he can take our highly skilled position players, and really make them shine, as well as keep our defense in the top 10.
