Actually, with the events from last week, I would say things are definately getting better. Hopefully the U.S. and Iraqi forces will stage a major offensive in Bagdad before the insurgents can recover. I have always felt that we have never had enought troops in Iraq, and this would be a good time to sending more.

Most of France was fun, I just did not like the people. I had a good time there, in Spain, and in Italy.

That's a nice crutch to keep using. 'I know I'm dead wrong now, but in 100 years, you'll see.'

I can't stand to be around French people, despite my French lineage, because they f'ing stink to high heaven. Take a GD shower, for pete's sake!!!

History proves me right already. Just look at french history over the last few hundred years. Not a lot to be overly proud of there. They'll end up looking stupid over all of this also. You're right, however, they do stink.

I was speaking in reference to their stance on our current foreign policy (or lack thereof).

Ah, my apologies... some times I take it a little too personally because I do have a lot of family there and for the most part, people are nice, but they're arrogant... just like anywhere else in the world you have good and bad people.

Look Salty, you know I have nothing against you and we always have our differences on this kinda stuff, but you totally missed my point. Just because France is full of scum doesn't negate the fact that there are hundreds of great things this nation has given us. I am a proud American, did you miss that in my post or decide not to pay it any mind?

The status of Iraq and the war is something everyone will disagree on and that is its biggest problem. The status depends on who you ask, and I have at least 3-4 good friends who are Marines and have been on the front-line... of course I'm able to talk to them since a lot of them have finished their duty and have been home, and then returned to Iraq, etc. The Marines are the ones whom I trust since, no offense to any of our other troops, they are our country's best weapon.

It may be cliched to say "nothing against our troops," but in this case I mean it... I hate, hate, HATE it when people take out their anger on American soldiers because they don't agree with our country's politics. You know what, I may not be the biggest Bush fan, but America is the superpower of the world, and sometimes that means doing something unpopular--it just so happens that in this case, I don't think we did the right thing... but it's nothing I can control. It's therfore a moot point. :usaflagwa

It's all good. I was in a french hating mood the other day. Well, to be honest, I'm always in a french hating mood now-a-days. But, whatever, it's all good. :thumb:

Apparently I just had bad luck. I had a good time everywhere else I went, and even a good time in France, just did not get along well with their citizens.

    No?

Not being the first modern democracy in Europe, throwing out the monarchy? Not conquering half of Europe under Napoleon? Not helping 13 insurrectionist colonies in America by sending a navy and an army that facilitated US independence from Britain? Not inventing the automobile? Not the French Resistance in WWII? The Vichy may have surrendered, but the French Resistance had big brass balls.

I have looked at French history and honestly, I also have big problems with French obstructionism and rhetoric in the last 50 years. But if you are talking about a few hundred years, then somebody with French ancestors has a lot to be proud about.

So, if you came over from France recently, you may be a cheese-eating, yankee-baiting, arrogant socialist who reeks of garlic and needs a bath. But if your 18th century ancestors were French, then you're just a Cajun fella who makes a pretty good sauce piquant and is proud of your funny accent.
