1. But when Reggie did it........ :hihi:

  2. Reggie has had a history of showboating and got penalized at SC on more than one occasion. The playoff game against the bears was no exception. I'm not a fan of it, regardless of the player. That said, Reggie is far more likeable than VY. Would you expect me to say anything different?
  3. As far as VY showboating, he deserved the opportunity. Reggie beat VY for the Heisman, which I did not agree with. VY was disrespected all year. His throwing motion was not text book, he wouldn't be able to run in the pros like he was in college, every sports writer picked USC to win the Nat. Championship game, Mack Brown couldn't win he BIG ONE!

You have to admit, Texas had been totally disrespected going into the game. This was total vindication for VY and the entire Texas team and coaching staff. VY deserved to prance a bit. What a high, and after all the disrespect they'd gotten, I don't blame him one bit.

Matt's comment about "I still think we're the better team" was inappropriate and classless, IMO. You just got beat by a better team, give them their due!

To give both teams their due, it was a terrifically exciting game, especially the second half. It's the best half of college football I can recall watching in the last 45 years. Never was so much on the line, with so many big stars, when both teams hit on all cylinders, IMO. But the brightest star was Young. 250 yds passing, 200 rushing, all those 4th down scampers. VY deserved to strut after that game!

I work in Houston, and work out with a high school football referee who used to work some of VY's high school games. He said he worked his first game Vince got into well after the start. His team trailed, and Vince ran wild and led them to the win. He said Vince was tall and skinny as a soph., but he said you could tell immediately he was going to be something special if you were used to being around high school football players. It would be hard to overstate how distraught the Texans fans are about the team passing on VY, since this is his hometown, and there are lots of Longhorn fans here also.
  4. It doesn't matter whether VY didn't win the Heisman or not. His behavior (doing the Heisman pose) after their win was no different than Matt's behavior. Both came out of disappointment and I didn't like either but again, I can understand it. That's twice now I've agreed that Matt could have/should have said something different. I have also given Texas credit several times for the win. It has stung even more since last summer when the refs admitted they blew 2 crucial calls. C'est la vie, it doesn't change the final score.

We hardly hit on all cylinders. Our D which was riddled with injuries was simply not capable of stopping VY. For me, that's the story.

  5. What do you guys expect him to say?????????? "I'm the worst."

    Or...

    "Russell is better than me!"
  6. No, but say anything like Im a good QB, great leader, stuff like that. But not I still think Im the best, that's just sh!tty, everyone knows Russell is better than him, and Russell didnt mention anything like that. When Russell was asked he praised Quinn and his hard work, he also said he is happy he is being mentioned in the no. 1 pick talk and that some people dont get those chances in life, etc... That was a classy rsponse, but what Quinn said was a loud cry.
  7. Who cares? JR is the one laughing all the way to the bank with a guaranteed $20-25 million.
  8. What Hurricane said.......verbatim. :thumb:

JR doesn't have to say much cause if you read this link swerved posted in another thread you can see what everyone else is saying for him. :yelwink2:

Like I said, when you're good, you don't have to......... :yelwink2:
  9. Lord help me I'm about to defend Lady. I think a lot of folks know he was a bit overhyped during the season. They won games they should have (can you say Commander in Chief trophy?) but didn't close on the big ones and much of that falls on Lady's shoulders. He's tap dancing a bit but frankly it's the most confident I've ever seen him and that's a weakness of his. No "eye of the Tiger".

He mentioned at the combine that his agent didn't want him to work the bench press and yet he did it anyway. Good for him. He looked pretty good. He believes that since you only get one shot at making the NFL you should give your best effort which for him means throwing at South Bend to receivers he knows instead of performing in Indy this week. I personally don't agree with that strategy but I'm not trying out.

He is a smart kid and does have a solid understanding of offensive schemes. I just never saw any true advancement in his check offs, scrambling out of the pocket, or field leadership. He struggled against tougher teams. Some of that falls squarely on donut boy's shoulders.
  10. I agree he has a good understanding of the game, good work ethic, a hard worker and tough with good talent. But he literally chocked in big games, I recall him overthrowing his wide-open recievers in the sugar bowl in the first half when our defense was quite loose. And was totally shut out (30 yards of TOTAL offense) when our defense tightened up in the second. You can't have an argument about it cause he had NFL talent with him on the offense (2 of the best wide-outs and a decent OL that allowed only one sack to the best DL in the nation), as there was NFL talent on our defense. So it is just a demonstration of what he'll find in the NFL, there's no less to it.
