i was at both oregon st and fla in 99. both were pretty bad also i think the worst was miss st in the mid 90's (it was a JP/LF game) i think we won 28-20. all of this is fuzzy. but that morning it didn't look like rain at all (as evidenced by so many girls in the student section wearing white :thumb: ), until the game started. then the heavens opened.
i've read that the saying comes from the mid 50's when i actually never rained in Tiger Stadium during a game, that it would rain befor a game or in another part of the city, but not in Tiger Stadium. sort of like the saying "we didn't lose, we just ran out of time".
It never rains in Tiger Stadium... it pours! Oregon St. was the first game of my last season in Tiger Band. Quite possibly the most fun Pregame I took part in. I don't think the Golden Girls appreciated the rain, however (especially after rolling around in the mud during halftime).
I thought I read somewhere about how the saying was made to insinuate that even in rain the Tigers always play on their top game..like we move with speed on that wet grass.
