Yep all fan bases have "after the play is over experts" but I don't care about the others busy dealing with ours. I will still take ours over everybody's. Next year and year after will tell us all we need to know.

not necessarily, fans is an American word, coined in the very early years of baseball, as you say, from fanatics, or from the more British word, fanciers, which is what they called their fans. Nobody knows for sure.
