JR ain't no Aaron Brooks! Unlike Brooks, JR is a leader and he cares about winning and improving his game! Contrary to what many believe, JR makes good decisions as a rule. The guy is already far and above Brooks in talent and maturity. You never see JR laughing after a bad play on his part, whether it was it fault or not.
yea, JR is as cool and collected as it gets in the clutch. Did you see him after throwing the TD in OT @ bama last year? He just walked away, he didn't jump in the pile, he just cooly and even talked to the Bama player. Thats the kinda guy you want leading your team down a TD in the 4th quarter. The teamates feed off his consistency.
This is one of the worst talent assessments I have ever read. Russell torched the Auburn defense once the playbook was opened up. Every talent evaluation I have read talks about his good footwork for a big man and his good drops.
I think JR will make a good NFL QB. He is a solid player with a rocket for an arm. Comparing him to Aaron Brooks is disgracefull and very un LSU like. He is a TIGER and we should never compare a TIGER to a Virginia Cavalier. Brooks has NEVER done some of the things that JR has done and he has never shown the type of character that JR shows all the time.
You forgot to mention one thing. He will also have an NFL defensive line coming at him too. I think if he goes to the right team with the right coach, he could be an outstanding QB.
I think everyone her is forgetting something. For every Peyton Manning, there's a Ryan Leaf. For Every Carson Palmer there's a Jason White. No one on this board has any clue how JR will do at the next level. He may pull a Tommy Banks, and turn the NFL down to pursue his medical degree. Not to mention what he does in the NFL is completely irrelevant. I don't care if he becomes a hall of famer or not, as long as he wins out THIS year, and next if he returns.
I agree. We shouldnt compare any player to Aaron Brooks. It was the best day of my life when Saints finally got rid of him. He has to be the most unconsistent QB in the history of football. On top of his pitiful play he would just laugh and smile INT after fumble after INT. The only people we should compare Aaron Brooks to is SEC officials. :laflagwav
He took a chance when he recruited him for LSU? Russell was one of the most highly recruited QBs in the nation.
