I don't think people are getting mad as much as they are having chest pains everytime his name comes up. We have waited a long time for the right coach to come in and run the show, the party has just started and no one wants to go home early.
And let's not forget that Saban brought some of this on himself. Interviewing, formally and informally, for NFL jobs will cause your name to be mentioned over and over again. I really don't see this as an issue anymore ... it'll happen every year till he leaves LSU.
It is very eyebrow-raising that he has not gotten another job after being fired from the Saints' position. It's sad too because he would have been able to get the talent in place to make sure we went into the playoffs.
He was VP in Seattle until Holmgren was hired to take over GM and head coach operations, then he left for the Saints. After being fired from the Saints he has not had another NFL job.
IMO, if Benson hadn't unexpectedly and irrationally fired mueller, I don't think the saints would be this bad, lloking at another losing season. they've got a cap guy as a GM and have had two bad drafts in a row. their top frre agent signing was bryant young? Benson is a buffoon and now he has to clean house from top to bottom-again. even that very large equipment man will probably be gone this time.
He fired him for trading Rasta Ricky to Miami. If Ben$on thinks the Saints got screwed on that deal just think how Miami feels.:dis: :dis: :dis: :dis: :dis: :dis: Supposedly Mueller traded Ricky without consulting Ben$on first. Imagine that a football GM not consulting someone that knows NOTHING about football before making a football descision. Until Ben$on goes keep the paper bags handy.
Yeah... and Trev Alberts swore up and down that Nebraska was gonna roll this year... They're all just pundits getting people wound up. Well, they also said he met with the Dolphins earlier this year, which he shot down, and that he was gonna take the bears job last year, which he didn't. Browns are just the next in line that will not come to pass. CNS has said over and over again that he has no desire to coach Pro ball. He loves the college atmosphere. Why does nobody believe him? I do. When he does leave LSU (Which I think is at least 5 years away), he will go to some other college, not the pros...
I heard it was because Benson did not give him permission to interview in Atlanta and he interviewed anyway. Then he didn't end up with the Atlanta job, screwing himself royally.
