Richt is a good coach but hes had his fair share of misques....a big knock on him is not having enough balls sometimes...in '01 he mismanaged the auburn fiasco in the final 10 seconds, losing to florida in '03, not letting tereshinski have a chance to win this year with FL..... a lot of people feel he is too much of a finesse guy sometimes with throwing the ball, a lot of ga peeps just wich we would run the hell out of the ball...we have the backs to do it now. but, 2 sec titles in first 5 years....cant be too picky....i think his stock went way up with the sec champ this year....he had a good game plan....but most of the credit to the players for actually executing. .......Hands down everyone wishes they had the Ole ball coach on their sidelines though spurrier richt tubs (he whines like a bitch) johnson (does a lot with less talent) miles (need more than one year to evaluate) donut crumbs in knoxville urban myth shula nutt orgeron croom does it even matter at kentucky?
The ability to recruit and develop staff is becoming the true measure of a successful HC. Very few successful head coaches serve as a coordinator in their own program. Spare me the exceptions, I know they exist. A head coach has different responsibilities and cannot possibly devote the time and effort that someone singularly focused can. It is the reason so many talented coordinators never make it in the lead position, they cannot make the transition and let go of their area of expertise. Your best lumberjack may not be the person to head your forestry management team.
1. Spurrier - Not even close between him and #2 2. Richt ------Gap 3/4 - Meyer/Tubs 5. Miles 6. Johnson Everyone else
1. Richt (buy) 2. Tuberville (buy) 3. Spurrier (buy) 4. Miles (hold) 5. Fulmer (sell) 6. Meyer (hold) 7. Shula (sell) 8. Nutt (sell) 9. Croom (buy, with risk) 10. Brooks (sell) 11. Johnson (sell) 12. Orgeron (dump it immediately and take what you can get:lol: )
Leak isn't SLOW... and he isn't a pocket passer... And Leak is also a Junior, so where is he going? The spread option just won't work here... the SEC front seven is quite a bit better than what Utah faced
Funny, I was just thinking this morning about starting such a thread. With the 2005 season in the bag, here's my take: 1. M. Richt 2. T. Tuberville (close second) 3. S. Spurrier 4. B Johnson (vandy) 5. M. Shula 6. L Miles 7. H. Nutt 8. S. Crooms 9. U. Meyer 10. E. Orgeron 11. R. Brooks 12. P. Fulmer
Should have license to print money: 1. Spurrior (you can't ignore his Florida time, but this year's job may have been his best.) 2. Richt (Can catch Visor Boy if he keeps beating USC) 3. Tuberville (has only made one really bad hire at OC--Nall) Squandering license to print money 4. Fulmer (this year hurt his standing a lot) Need more time to prove themselves worthy of money 5. Johnson (gave Vandy three chances at a bowl this year--three more than usual) 6. Miles (hard to overlook 10-2) 7. Meyer (his offense is the wishbone with the fullback expected to throw and run--SEC D-linemen are too fast for that to work) 8. Shula (He will have to earn his money next year with all those seniors leaving) 9. Nutt (how long will Broyles accept the ups and downs?) Hope they enjoy the view from the Sidelines, cause it won't last much longer 10. Croom (talks a good game, but are slipping backwards) 11. Brooks (doesn't interfere with hoops coverage) 12. Orgeron (Lost bad to Croom's pups)
You should add shula and nutt to the list of won't last longs. Shula either beats AU next year or he is packing his bags. Just how much time should nutt have? I'd kill for his job. 1.2 mil a year and you don't even have to have fans that like you.
No way in the world Shula is gone next year...they love him in t-town. Not to mention they need a little stability.
