If I have to be honest and unbiased 1. Florida 2. Georgia 3. Tenn 4. LSU 5. Auburn 6. South Carolina 7. Alabama 8. Arkansas 9. Ole Miss 10. Kentucky 11. Miss. State 12. Vanderbilt
No way I could see Tennessee ahead of us. They don't have near as good recruiting grounds, and our facilities are probably better as well.
Couple of additions here: 2005 Census Estimate: 1- California 36,132,147 2- Texas 22,859,968 3- New York 19,254,630 4- Florida 17,789,864 Annnnd SEC Coaching Jobs: 1. Florida 2. LSU 3. Tennessee 4. Auburn 5. Georgia 6. Arkansas 7. South Carolina 8. Ole Miss 9. Alabama 10. Mississippi State 11. Kentucky 12. Vanderbilt
There is absolutely no appeal for South Carolina. You must have placed them that high because Spurrier is there now. Holtz tried it out and he failed. Spurrier is finding it equally as difficult. He is in his 2nd recruiting cycle and still hasn't landed a blue chipper. That proves that the SC job is well below Bama and even Arkansas.
(1) LSU - top of the line facilities, great stadium that provides a great homefield advantage, loyal/fanatic fans that provide a great homefield advantage, talent throughout the stae of LA providing top national recruiting classes, no in state competition for recruiting, can dip into South AL and MS for recruits and East TX. (2) Florida - much of the same is true for Florida as was for LSU but the state of Florida has 3 major, perinial top 10 programs, so even when Miami and FSU are in down years they recruit against each other. (3) Tennessee - Huge fan base, huge stadium, top notch facilities, no other major programs in state, and no Vandy is not a recruiting rival and niether is Memphis, but both are bigger programs than LSU has to compete against in LA. (4) UGA - UGA over AU because of facilities, fan base, and size of school. UGA recruits against G.T and AU. (5) AU (6) BAMA (7) ARKY (8) S.Carolina - (9) Ole Miss - Ole Miss over the rest because Ole Miss has good tradition and game day atmoshpere, even though I was not overly impressed with the grove (too small), and Ole Miss has die hard fans which is more than Vandy, KY, or State can say.
Disagree isl....7-10 can be jumbled a bit, but South Carolina seems to be ahead of them not only because Spurrier is there, but because USC was able to get him. Also, Spurrier has been there two years...I believe you are coming hastily into judgement on his USC teams. He didn't have automatic success at UF.
1. Florida 2. LSU 3. Georgia 4. Tennessee 5. Alabama (tie) Auburn 7. Arkansas 8. South Carolina 9. Ole Miss 10. Mississippi State 11. Kentucky 12. Vanderbilt
Spurrier @ UF ('90-'01) '90 = 9-2 (lost tiebreaker for SEC Champ) '91 = 10-2 (SEC champs) '92 = 9-4 '93 = 11-2 (SEC champs) '94 = 10-2 (SEC champs) '95 = 12-1 (SEC Champs) '96 = 12-1 (SEC champs ; MNC) '97 = 10-2 '98 = 10-2 '99 = 9-4 '00 = 10-3 (SEC champs) '01 = 10-2 Looks pretty immediate to me
