In terms of consistency and quality (2000-present, or thereabouts): 1) LSU 2A) AU 2B) Georgia **drop** 3) Tenn 4) Fla Who cares, beyond the top 4? I sure don't...LOL.
i agree, uga is ahead of auburn in the first 4 years of the century (00-03) auburn lost a combined 18 games, thats 4.5 losses per season on average although they're a lot better now, it still doesn't beat the consistency of LSU or UGA, who both also went 4-2 in bowl games this century
I wouldn't be surprised either because: 1. The Georgia schedule is very favorable. 2. Georgia will field an extremely good defense. 3. Stafford is as good as billed and Barnes is very good as well. 4. Florida has an absolutely brutal schedule. 5. Tennessee's defense is very suspect. The Florida-Georgia game probably will decide the SEC East this year. I think the Gainesville Sun is being realistic. Georgia has a better overall team than Florida does.
I want to play Georgia again in the SEC championship. Who wants to play SC? The only team I would want to play besides UGA is Tenn so we can shut up that rocky top, but I want to play UGA though not only bc of revenge but because we have like 1/3 of the fans in that game. Nothing felt better then in 03' when like 60k barking UGA fans were dead silent.
Tennessee will win the East this year. Georgia will not win with an inexperienced QB at the helm. Nor would I refer to UGA's defense as "extremely good" .... at best, they'll be the 4th best in the conference and the 2nd best in the East - at best. Florida will not win due to their schedule ..... it's brutal for even the most experienced of teams, which UF is not. The SECC will feature the winner of the LSU-Auburn game versus Tennessee.
The thing I remember most about the 2003 game was when Lumpkin dropped the ball after he had gotten 7 yards past Marcus Spears right down the middle. Saban was about three feet off the ground going ballistic on the sidelines. But ultimately LSU's experience and depth made the difference. The issue of Georgia having so many injuries made it an uneven contest by halftime, especially on artificial turf. The contest in Baton Rouge was more competitive because Georgia was healthier at that point during the season and the game was played on natural turf. Fortunately for LSU, the Georgia ranking held up just enough to put LSU in the title game.
If you stay healthy during the season then you have a pretty good shot at competing for the SEC champ. Thats why you can't just say Tennessee will win the east. Injuries are such a factor and playing in this conference anything could happen. Also you can't just assume that Tennessee will totally rebound from last year. Maybe last year was a fluke or maybe it was just a sign where fullmer is going to take that program. Im not sold that UGA or that FLA will not win the east. Defense and coaching could possibly do it for Georgia. Florida has the talent but Leak in that option offense probably wont work.
where is everybody getting the notion that UGA is going to have this dominant Defense i keep seeing referenced? help me out, cause i'm not seeing it ???
