Would you take Haffney over Steltz?

Me neither. The only reason I can see that he is ranked so low right now is maybe the speed thing.

It's early, but Chevis Jackson will get first round consideration, not just first day. His coverage skills and speed are terrific. Zenon will get looks in the 2nd-4th rounds, if only because he's got good technique and hands.

Tyson Jackson is interesting. Most college de's are fine at rushing the QB, but lack coverage skills. An argument could be made that he'll be more alluring to teams for showing that he can understand and execute coverages.

Steltz is a likely 3-5 round pick, unless he burns up the 40. Safeties aren't first round picks unless they're studs. His tendency to be a playmaker won't be overlooked though. Consider the Chargers moving up to get Eric Weddle last year. His measurables were good, but not otherworldly. They liked his versatility and on-field performance, and he's played very well thus far.

Highsmith is another interesting guy. Some teams will consider him a tweener of course, but his speed and nose for the ball should get him some looks. There are 3-4 teams that are in need of a drop coverage LB, and 4-3 squads that could use more speed on the edge. I think he'll do well in the draft and go anywhere between 1st and 3rd rounds.

If Doucet comes back healthy and strong, he's the 1st WR taken. end of story

I would have to check the numbers because I don't remember Mauck's being substantially different than Flynn's, but I expect Flynn's to really increase once his ankle heals & he gets Doucet back.

As for Flynn & Mauck's measurables, their height & arm strength are comparable, but Flynn's 40 time is better. Mauck was also like 27 at the time.

You could be right, I don't see anything that gives me good reason to think Flynn would go 4 rounds before Mauck went. I was thinking about it more in relation to these smaller school QB's that get drafted in the 3rd round.

it was a good year for Qbs it seems. at least at the top. not so deep though

    manning, rivers, rothlesberger, losman, schaub

for this class--brohm, woodson, brennan, ainge, booty, dick, ryan, keller, dixon.

this guy has has flynn going in 4th. also interesting to see flynn is by far the fastest of the top qbs. i thought dixon would be faster. http://walterfootball.com/draft2008QB.php

in his overall mock draft he has tyson jackson going at #13, wow. and early as 2nd wr (behind desean jackson)

    here's his OLBs.

    beckwith and highsmith there.

interesting. says highsmith is too small, but when you look at the list few are more than 7 lbs heavier and very few are faster. specifically, adibi is same weight and speed, but listed way higher.

I think these are the players that get drafted:

    Dorsey
    Doucet
    Chevis
    Steltz
    Pittman
    Hester
    Flynn

Tyson will if he goes. Zenon could be drafted in one of the later rounds.

Depends on what a particular team is looking for in a FB.

Like I mentioned earlier, Larry Centers wasn't a "bulked up" FB.

Centers was 6'0" and 215 lbs. Hester is listed as 6'0" and 224 lbs.

For 3 or 4 years, the Patriots used a less than conventional FB in Patrick Pass who is 5'10 and 217 lbs. He's now with the Texans.
