RB Davis pockets 5-year deal, $21.1 million serves as clincher for the Texans

During a Dolphin game, I remembered when the announcer coined the phrase Bowling Ball after DD had one of those bruising 8 yard gains, where he broke 2-3 tackles. Even Zach Thomas gave him his props. He also did some of that type of bruising running in that '02 Florida game. Him and Mauck made the LSU offense resemble the Nebraska of the mid 90's. In that 2000 MSU game he was a monster. No need to mention the Sugar Bowl against Illinois.

Despite all the negative scouting reports of him in the draft, I'm not surprised at all of his success.

 

For all that has been said about his lack of size, he's put up some damn good numbers and does nothing but keep proving people wrong.

I had also read where many "experts" felt as if this was the season that DD would lose some carries, and beging making the transition to a "3rd-down back". Sounds like this contract signing is proving those guys wrong! :thumb:

These backloaded NFL contracts are bullchit. When he starts to make some actual money, or God forbid gets injured, they will just draft another RB and talk him into "restructuring".

While I agree with your overall point, it doesn't apply here. He's getting about $8M in guaranteed cash in this deal.
