The Peach Bowl was not all Matt Flynn. We finally got rested after 11 straight games and the OL played their best game of the year, which opened up the running game.
what the common fan doesn't realize is our defense didn't allow Miami to move the ball an inch in that game, and Miami's defense was so exhausted in the 3rd and 4th quarters, that any play we could have called would have worked. It also was the 1st game in the entire 2nd half of the season we had a healthy Addai at our disposal
How about because Miles left JR in the game after the wrist injury, and he throws the ball right to a D-Lineman in LSU territory and they scored? edit: Also JR lost one of the fumbles.
What a lot of people forget is that Flynn had a heatlthy Jo Addai, I think he was the major reason for the lopsided victory.
since you insist on bringing in stats that misguide people, then he is the whole story... he was 14-22 236 yards, 2 tds, 2 ints... Against a Top 10 team, that isn't so bad. Especially if he was dying in pain and shouldnt be playing, like you say
He was hurt on this play in the second quarter. His NEXT F***ING PASS was intercepted. Glancing at the drive chart, he was hardly productive in the passing game during the second half, well JEEZ, because he was HURT?!??!?
JR last year was a bit slow in reading defenses, was a bit slow in making decisions in the pocket, and on top of that the running game wasn't the most effective in some games and WR's dropped a lot of passes. There was definitely room for improvement for JR in reading defenses, making his decisions in the pocket faster and not staring down WR's. There were times he was brilliant and times he wasn't. That is part of the game and it was his first full season. Flynn played a great game in the Peach Bowl, he had an element to his game that JR doesn't, which is scrambling. That saved him on a lot of plays. I disagree with anyone that would see one game and automatically give the starting position for next season to Flynn. Miles handled this well, let the guys fight it out and whoever performs best will play. There is no controversy, unless JR starts playing bad then we have two competent guys to back him up. However, I'm not going to say that JR should be the starter through out the year based on his ULL performance, because it was ULL and he had tons of time and wide open WR's. The SEC will not give him that luxury. I'm worried about our O-Line and it might come a time that if the O-line is not giving him enough time that we may need a running QB. It all depends on what you need in the moment. With that said JR's accuracy, touch, and decision making was much better than I've seen before. He was bulls eye all night and I think he should be the stated started, but if things go south with SEC schools then putting in Flynn and RP should be on the table. But I think that will only happen if the O-line can't open up running lanes and aren't giving JR time to find the WR's.
