I'm also impressed with Meyer. He flat out-coached Tressel last year and that's no easy task.
There's a part of him that is Spurrier-like. He's all about offense and probably spends hours doodling out plays, ala the visor. He's also giving up points lately, ala Spurrier... before he brought in Stoops to fix things.
Meyer may just be waiting on his D talent to grow up, but there aren't many spread option teams that can play good defense. It's a trade-off that occurs in practice.
Interesting that Meyer's longest stint as a head coach is his stay at Florida... he was only two years at his prior two head jobs... makes it hard to get a real read on the guy. At Florida, he's 5-5 against the SEC West so far... found that of interest.

I don't necessarily see it as OSU's coaching staff doing a better job than Meyer's, Florida plays a much tougher schedule.

While Meyer may be winning with Zooks' players, Meyer is recruiting better than anyone in the country, so that won't be an issue.

Florida and Meyer have nothing to worry about, a four loss rebuilding season is nothing to hang one's head to.

Personally I've always thought Meyer did an exceptional job winning last year with being in his 2nd year. I wonder if he will be like Bob Stoops and go 6 or 8 years without winning another NC. Of course, Spurrier makes that FG last year and no NC for Florida. But that's football.

It's always possible he could go another 6-7 years without winning another NC as long as we don't have a playoff system. It just takes too much luck with our current system to get into the NC game.

If Florida had OSU's schedule they would probably be undefeated also. It dosen't mean that OSU's coaching staff is doing a better job than florida's.

So true, I think people forget about that. Everyone wants to say the talent should always win, but sometimes it just doesn't work out that way, injuries, bad calls, etc. I don't think anyone from the SEC will win 2 NC's within 5 years of each other with the current level of play we are seeing, just because winning the conference is so hard.

Ding Ding Ding......We have a winner.

OSU has played one ranked team in Penn State. The Big 10 has been the butt of many jokes this year and UM is the 2nd quality team they will play. UF has had to play Auburn, UK, LSU, Georgia...all ranked in the Top 25.

Couple the tough schedule with a very young defense and you will lose a couple agains tough opponents.

OSU has not been tested like UF has, and if OSU had to play UF's schedule they would have at least 3 losses.

That's been my question all along. They almost appear to think this guy is indestructible. By this time of the year, you'd think defenses have studied him enough to read and react quicker. Chances are, that means he's gonna get hit harder and more often. I will tip my cap to him though, dude can take a lick.
