Bush could take on a very LT-like profile in the NFL if he is properly utilized. Yes, his moves are very much like Barry Sanders. The move he put on near the sidelines before completely crossing back over the field to score his last TD was absolutely filthy. He literally faked out the entire freaking defense with one move. But his ability to be a great pass-catcher and ability to operate in space remind me of the way San Diego has utilized Tomlinson.
isl, this is why you should stay away from football discussion since you go overboard in many instances. to say bush is the best ever, while youre entitled to your opinion, is asinine at best. you're old enough to realize these comments are insane so either you arent very football knowledgable or simply one who makes emotional assessments. ive always been a huge reggie bush fan and would likely vote him the best player in college football....with VY a close second. If you watched Texas enough this year, you'd likely change your tune about Bush being the best this year much less ever. Please tell me you watched Herschel Walker in his glory days at UGA. If you did then no doubt those words would not have come out of your mouth. He dominated games in the SEC from start to finish and simply could not be stopped. Bo Jackson, as dominating as he was, was a distant second years later. either way, im sure some older folks can attest to other dominating players as well that I am not aware so i wont say Herschel is undoubtedly the best but id certainly say in my lifetime he is. bush is marshall faulk with more ability to break tackles. and no, bush is not 4.2 speed. another fallacy you like to use in your overreaction to a current pretty dominating scatback.
barry sanders ran for over 200 yards against some of the toughest defenses back in 1988 with oklahoma st, who has reggie bush run on? nobody! there is no doubt he is very talented, but he has not played a tough defense ever. He is the best this year and might win the heisman. As far as the best player ever, he needs to prove it against a great defense. please don't talk about oklahoma last year. He is great, but I want to see him against better competition.
Sanders rushed for 2,628 yards, an NCAA record. He had 3,249 total yards, an NCAA record. Sanders scored 39 TDs (37 rushing, 1 kick return, 1 punt return), an NCAA record. He averaged 7.6 yards per carry. He rushed for 300+ yards in four games. That was during the 11-game regular season. In the Holiday Bowl against Wyoming, he ran for 222 yards and 5 TDs. In three quarters. He sat out the fourth, as OSU won 62-14. Case closed on the best back ever, so there is no way he can be the best player ever.
I have to admit there has been some high quality discussions on this thread/subject, thanks to the likes of tirk and draino and many others Of course there were a couple who showed their asses, unfortunately....that of course is always disappointing, especially when it's quality posters Thank you for inviting me into your home, friend.....oh sh!t I've been watching too much Nancy Grace
This pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter. I would like to see Bush against Auburn, Georgia, LSU, or Alabama type of defense. I don't think he would do any better than the backs at Auburn or 'Bama. Best ever running backs: Cecil "Peeper" Collins looked to be a legendary back during his very short career. D'oh!
Good Points Tirk! I was going to post a similar statement about making absolute statements like that. The Fresno game was the first full USC game I watched. Bush had his way with that team. If he got a lane to run in, it was off to the races every time. He is very shifty similar to Barry Sanders, but his real asset is his amazing acceleration and he has sprinter class speed in the open. It has been awhile since I've seen such acceleration and speed at running back in college. I believe he could out run a lot of DB's in the NFL. Barry Sanders was amazing to watch and made people miss better than Reggie Bush does and had good acceleration. Although Sanders was not that fast. Bush is very fast. As Tirk said, Heschel was amazing and dominated and had great speed for his size. He could also run you over if he needed too. Bush can't run you over. Bo Jackson was incredible and wasn't as shifty as Bush but was explosive in acceleration and was very very fast and he could run you over as well. Bush has explosive accleration, is extremely fast and is very shifty. The only thing he lacks for the NFL is the power that Bo and Heschel had, but I believe he will be a good running back in the NFL. There is no doubt that IMO he is the best running back I've seen in college for quite awhile. The last time I was this amazed at some ones RB skills was Cecil the Diesel. What a waste! But as far as college RB's, I would put Bush up there with Heschel and Bo as far as being able to take over a game. I hate to admit it, if we played USC, he would gash LSU for big yardage often. All he need is a little lane and he blows through it in full sprint.
I agree Bush i the best college football player I HAVE EVER SEEN. I am only 22years old so i don't remember alot of player from the 80's and early 90's. But i can't really remember a player just dominating the game like he did. This thread was about reggie bush being the BEST COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYER EVER. So i think how he will do in the NFL is besides the point.
