1. Wvu has shown a weakness in the armour. They have shown a blocking scheme that other coaches will try and copy. We must tackle better. Au beat us because after we missed a tackle, they ran for big yards. Much of that falls back on the offense. A combination of crowtons play calling and jj not being a credible passing threat doomed our defense to being on the field for longer than they could handle. Once they got tired, they got sloppy and were exploited. We will have to own the clock in the real games coming up. These guys aren't gimmick bullchit teams with small defenses and weak offensive lines. These guys are sec powerhouses like us. The real season is fixing to start. We need not be overconfident. If we don't play our best football every week , we will lose. These guys coming up are sec teams, not wanna be's from a weaker conference artifically pumped up be the media.
  2. Without a doubt, the SEC is the toughest conference in America, but why do you want to make our impressive September less impressive by diminishing our opponents? WVU and UO could very well win the rest of their games. Are they SEC elite-quality? Probably not, but we've played the toughest schedule in our tough conference, so far.

  3. Sighhhhhhh...My point, dear friend, is that we are a good tackling team that had a bad game against a good team.
  4. I believe those who assert that we gave up a ton of yards because of our defensive scheme. Looking back, I see exactly why we did what we did, and it seems to have worked excellently.

However, that does not change the fact that we had serious problems covering the quick passes. It reminded me a lot of the Oregon St. game in 2004. Derrick Anderson was throwing it before our DBs could even get in position. The bad part is that we appeared to be in press-coverage for a good portion of the game. So we knew it was coming, but still couldn't maintain position to make a play. And I don't think that part of the scheme invloved letting them catch the ball if we could safely defend the pass. That's what has me a little worried moving forward. Teams with capable QBs will most likely game plan around that. This is a great secondary with tremendous athletes, and they've had no trouble covering downfield passes this year (just ask Chris Relf). But if we can't cover underneath, we're going to get eaten alive at some point.
  5. Agreed. People need to remember that in one month LSU handily beat the odds-on favorites to win the Pac-12 and Big East championships, all in one month. AP voters took notice.

  6. Couldn't have scripted it any better!

  7. WVU had the experienced QB/WR tandem to make those quick pitch and catch plays. It heavily relies on a fast release and timing. What SEC team is going to do that to us? Arky has been forced to throw a lot after losing Davis, but it's a pro style and they're not ready for prime time yet. Bama's offense is a clone of LSU's. Florida is the only team that can possibly come close with Demps and Rainey in the backfield. Even then, neither of those guys are the receiving threat that Harvin was, and though Brantley is improving, he's nowhere near Geno Smith.

That leaves having to match up our LBs against TEs and RBs in space, and where tackling has to improve. But like Fish said, there just aren't many teams left on the schedule who can attack us the way WVU did.
  8. In Reid's interview he said after watching film they had 17 mistackles that resulted in 106 extra yards, thats on top of the scheme they played to keep everything in from of them.. He said they got chewed out really good....
  9. Yes, but to be fair, no one thought that WVU had the capability to do what they did, so it's a little bold to assume that no one in the SEC can duplicate it. And now the other teams have the blue print. . .
  10. I have all the confidence that we will have this fixed. We have the appropriate amount of athletes and talent, and we damn sure have the right man for the job in Chavis.

LSU will correct this beginning with UK, and once again show complete dominance on that side of the football.
