Did anybody else feel that way? I mean the hype surrounding Oregon, & deservedly so, was unreal leading up to that game. I always feel like we have a chance to win every game, but that one I was nervous about b/c it was the 1st game of the season & we all didn't know what type of team LSU really was yet. Then I let out a big sigh of relief at halftime, b/c we dominated them in all phases of the game.
Alabama, however, is a different beast entirely. Yes, Oregon is extremely fast & athletic, but they are runts compared to SEC players. Same thing with W.V. There's no other team or fanbase that I hate more than the gumps, but you have to give credit where it's due, their D is clearly #1 for a reason, & Richardson is the real deal! The guy is a beast! Did you see Tenn. try tackling him Sat. night? WOWSER!
So should we be nervous? Well yes, bama absolutely has the #1 D for a reason, but what's the best offense they've played? Arkansas at home? Ark. has poor balance on offense. They def. cannot run as effectively as LSU can. Also, here are the avg. run yds given up by bama's opponents so far:
Kent St. 136
Penn St. 101
North TX 155
Arkansas 183
Florida 120
Vandy 133
Ole Miss 223
Tenn 154
LSU only gives up 76 rushing per game. Sure, Richardson will get his yards, but he's gonna get hit harder than he's been hit all year. And McCarron's a soph. that hasn't been tested all year. He hasn't seen a D close to LSU's caliber as far as speed, athleticism & depth goes! Chavis will test him early & often.
And there D hasn't faced a team as deep & capable at RB as LSU has, including a QB that can scramble. Our balance on offense is amazing! I hope to see a one two punch of Ware, Hilliard, Ware, Hilliard, Ford, then BOOM! Deep ball on PA to Randle! All I can do is hope, but I like the way LSU has looked all year.
Both teams are extremely talented, & I'm sure this is the 2 best teams in the country by far. This game is the BCSNCG, it's just a shame that it's in tuscaloosa. However, I'm not nervous about this game b/c I know what type of team LSU has. This their year. GO TIGAHS!
