Stephen Garcia Might’ve Lost His Fourth-String CFL Quarterback Job To Jordan Jefferson Barry Petchesky Stephen Garcia, formerly of South Carolina, formerly of Steve Spurrier's shit list, attended an open tryout for the CFL's Montreal Alouettes this spring. He impressed enough to earn a contract, which put him solidly fourth on the Als' depth chart. But something happened this month. According to Herb Zurkowsky, the Montreal Gazette's beat guy, Garcia left the team, his roster spot taken by another American undrafted free agent. You might have heard of him. His name is Jordan Jefferson, and he took LSU to the national championship game, and he signed with Montreal on Friday after being unable to catch on with an NFL team. Montreal still lists Garcia on their roster, and Zurkowsky reports that Garcia was excused "for personal reasons." So it's not clear quite what's going on up there, or who's gotten into what sort of trouble, but it sounds like business as usual in the SEC North. http://deadspin.com/5934289/stephen...tring-cfl-quarterback-job-to-jordan-jefferson impressed deadspin has an actual article on something so obscure.
Garcia's actually on their version of an injured reserve right now, and JJ is on what looks to be a Canadian version of a practice squad according to their website. Apparently the guy mentioned as their beat writer in tirk's article also earlier reported that Garcia picked up that injury in some kind of failed attempt to flash a peace sign. Then later the organization said it wasn't true, so the reporter crawfished a bit. He knew it was a joke even while he was publishing it, and CFL teams regularly hide people with fake injuries in IR, and its a 4th string QB so who cares, etc. Strange goings-on up there.
As long as JJ isn't wearing a purple and gold jersey I don't care if he and garcia take turns giving each other the rusty trombone on the moon. Good riddance. Stay warm up there aye!
Jordan Jefferson is no quarterback plain and simple. He is a good athlete so use him as a tight end. I mean the guy ran a good forty at the combine.
Still think he should have been a linebacker. One thing about JJ, he could take a pounding, and that tackle he made on his own boneheaded int was a pretty damned good tackle.
