Politicians in general are a bunch of self serving, manipulating, bitches and bastards. They tell you what you want to hear so they can get elected/ re-elected. They'll tell you there's not enough money in the general funds and ask departments to cut their budgets and turn around and vote themselves raises because they think they deserve it.

This wouldn't work. It would take about a 90% tax to accomplish this, which would mean that poor people who must spend their entire incomes to get by will get taxed on it all. But rich people, who can live fat on tiny portions of their income can pile up immense fortunes tax free. The middle class, who also must spend most of its income, has much more in common with the poor than with the rich where sales tax is concerned, don't ever forget that. Dumping income tax in favor of sales tax is corporate welfare and a huge public donation to the wealthiest among us. Talk about income redistribution on a vast scale. It's a ticket to ride for the wealthy.

Get practical! Foreign aid is cheaper and more effective than warfare by far. I have given you a page of examples before. Our enemies, especially China, are spending money out there to influence people against us. A Superpower must never let a regional power beat us in any arena.

Within certain guidelines, I could agree. But that means when you think your child got whipped by an unfair teacher, you will just have to live with it. You can't go out and kill them for fucking with you.

People no longer receive welfare if they don't have dependent children and even then, they have to find work and be off it within 3 years. It is no longer ticket to ride and hasn't been since the Clinton administration. Homeless people get no benefits unless they are disabled. I agree that public housing needs to be tightened up considerably, but we will always have poor people who can't find affordable housing on low wages. To just eliminate it would create the kind of filthy shantytowns and disease-ridden barrios that we see in Mexico and the rest of the third world. This is America and we are better than that shit.
