Here is the deal. Islamic terrorism is absolutely no threat to the security of the country. They are a criminal threat to its citizenry and must be dealt with, but they cannot cause the downfall of the country. Not even 9/11 came close to endangering the nation. Bin Ladin thought that bringing down the World Trade Center would cause financial collapse. It did not. All it did was tighten up US security to the level most countries already had.

We have long sat in our wonderland behind wide oceans with no threat of wars rumbling through our cities and countryside. It's not like that in most of the world and never has been. Most nations have legitimate fears of being overthrown or attacked militarily. Huge wars roll through Europe every 50 years or do. In the Middle east and Asia it is a lot more often than that. We build a lot of cheap wood-frame and cinder-block buildings in this country. in Europe and the Middle east they use masonry and a lot of reinforced concrete because they may have to be serious mortar shelters and they want them to survive military incursions and revolutions.

These random bombings and shootings are a criminal justice problem, not an excuse to go off on lemming-like military migrations around the world hemorrhaging money and American lives because they will never stop small numbers of terrorists from making small numbers of atrocities. We must remain vigilant and go after them wherever we must and whenever it is practical. But don't panic and imagine that the threat of suicide bombers threatens the security of the United States of America itself.

I'm saying what I think. They can either accept it or counter it. Many of them cannot even comprehend it.
