I've been around here enough to know that most of the posters on this forum are decent enough individuals to NOT use that sort of word, but in some cases, I'm not sure that I could simply ignore what is factual and obvious to my own eyes...
i am outraged at you racists! (did i win the "i-am-indignant-because-i-am-classy" contest?) look, we should protect our inferiors from mean names. they need protection, being inferior and all, right? dont want them to start acting like equals who can deal with mean names.
I just don't see any point in getting offended when a person fufills every single negative stereotype associated with a certain word. I don't like the word, either. But when someone goes out of their way to earn it, I can make an exception. So long as someone is not generalizing an entire race of people, and is basing such an assertion on some pretty solid evidence, I'm not going to cry.
For the record - I'm not offended, outraged, or indignant. I just think it's counter-productive and reflects poorly on LSU.
This is a controversial subject, something I was going to stay away from.. but what the hell. I admit that I come from a relatively racist family. I've tried my whole life to not let myself be like that because I think it's pure ignorance to assume everyone is the same because of their skin color. HOWEVER, through my life it's become pretty obvious to me why so many people are racists & use the "n" word, especially in an area like SE Louisiana where we live with this trash(which doesn't mean all black people, just the ones we all know I'm talking about). You can't deny your own eyes - it was black people looting in the streets. They weren't stealing food to feed their families because they were poor, they were stealing TV's, jewelry & guns. It's black refugees looting in Baton Rouge & every other city in SE Louisiana right now. I suggest that if black people don't want people to think bad of them & call them "n" words, they shouldn't have such a high percentage of their race deserve it. Just to clear something up, there's a difference between a black man & a "n" word. A black man can do anything a white man can, he's just as intelligent & capable. Only a pretty small percentage of the black community are "n" words.
I dunno....I've looked at this the same way my whole life: There's a HUGE difference between blacks/african american's and the "N" word just like there's a difference between whites and white trash/racists. Any black person shooting at rescue workers, or looting stores is, IMO, quite simply, nothing more than an "N-word". If there are whites doing the same thing, then they're nothing more than "white trash".... Either way, those are the types of people, reguardless of color, that we need to start cracking down on, and bringing them to justice. Basically, they're the ones that need to receive a bullet.
sweet, that is one less competitor in the contest to see who is most classy and preachy. i think i have a shot. in reality actually hate the races i am not allowed to hate, but i keep that secret and i pretend to hate the proper groups as dictated by the current social/political norms.
I'm not suggesting that anyone pretend anything. However, if your language selection is controversial according to the current social/political norms then your credibility is shot before you can ever begin to make a compelling case for your position. Perspectives and attitudes such as yours challenge LSU's overall credibility outside of the vaccum of SE Louisiana. (fyi - you'll probably need to "spread it around" a bit before you can give me more negative rep for this.)
