I'm most concerned with the first 25 yards on the KO returns and the first 10 on a punt return, that is when that acceleration is needed, after that is mostly about angles and the right moves. I don't think too many people would catch either one of them from behind if they get out in the open. The 100 is a completely useless stat when it comes to football I think, the 60 a little more telling but not too much.
At 5'5", you learn to be careful.... I don't care how ellusive he is, I don't think he'll be making too many "non-fair catches" in too close-a-quarters if he's about to get blasted. I have faith in Holliday.
I agree that hje should be careful, but the smaller and quicker you are the less careful you really have to be I think. Anyway, I'd much rather he be somewhat careful to avoid turnovers, not injuries.
I'm a small guy (5'8" 145) and returned kicks in high school.(I know it not the SEC) I only got hit squared-up once in 3 years. I quickly learned how to signal for a fair catch. Mostly though, its glancing blows while moving in opposite directions.
Holliday should be a blast to watch. I would much rather a guy take a fair catch, than risk getting hammered as soon as he catches it (and then fumbling, or getting injured.) Those of you that play PS2 or XBOX know this to be true!!!
