Indeed, lots of LSU fans, maybe most, just really really dislike him regardless of his coaching ability.

First, Auburn basically got shamed in to keeping Tubby last year. Everybody felt sorry for him for the way he was treated. Every Auburn fan I know, which is only about 6-7, wanted him fired.

Lots of coaches have buyouts payable if they are fired or quit. That money is easily raised by the hiring or firing school if need be.

Why do we have so many dang Auburn lurkers on our board. Are they confused about which Tigers Forums this is? I don't think I've been on an Auburn board ever. Why are you so obsessed with us?

You're right. I didn't like him when he was at Ole Miss. I don't like him now. He's an arrogant prick. Keep him. :nope:

(Can't believe I made a Tubster post and didn't mention those satellite dish ears of his  )

Well, 6-7 isn't exactly a representative sample. I was in the camp that wasn't happy with our performance last year, but thought that we ended well and that CTT should get another year if he got a real offensive coordinator. I just think that unless the coach is just posting losing seasons or has other serious problems in the program, 5 years is the minimum that you give them to rebuild, especially from the shambles TaterTot left us in.

Yes they do, but $3.5 million was already one of the highest. $7 million will probably be the top. Most buyouts are significantly less...$1 to $2 million. Saban's contract didn't have a buyout at all from what I understand.

You need to get out more. TexasTiger, geauxscott and several other TigerForum regulars are also regular contributors over at AUNation. Rivals do actually talk to one another and *gasp* think it's fun! Amazing, huh?

Speaking only for myself, I enjoy visiting a few other boards....helps keep things in perspective, knowhutimean?

Here's the reality. Tubs is a good football coach. Tubs is not, nor was he ever a candidate for the LSU position - just as I said from the beginning. I recognize that most LSU fans find the man distasteful, but LSU could do much worse with several of the candidates that are currently being discussed for the HC position. The fact is, Tubs has got a decent track record and the character of the student-athletes he has recruited would reflect well on any university in the land, including LSU.... and that's not a slap at LSU, it's a compliment.

It's my opinion that none of the coaches are necessarily worth today's inflated salary rates, but if they can get it, I sure cannot blame them....you and I both would do the same thing for our families.
