1. Kept focus on Welter and Loston.

Welter is useless. And I'm being nice when I say that.

Loston is the 1/2 player in the equation. The amount of bad plays equals the amount of times he probably serves a purpose out on the field.

Not sure you can survive with that big of a deficit from 2 players on your defense. Especially when it's your MLB and FS. Those are thought of as two of the most critical positions on any defense.

Btw, Kendell Beckwith lined up as a DE on the very last play vs Florida on 4th down and he got to the QB and forced that fumble. How that kid is not being put on the field is beyond me. He is an impact player. Hopefully that one play opened up some eyes. If it's to be on the field as DE because you seemingly can't do without Welter (?), so be it.

  2. I re-watched last night on YouTube and I can see your point.

The coaches have to be seeing this as well watching tape. I don't get it, but there has to be some reason they are getting the playing time.

Hope it all gels before we head to Gumptown.
  3. You are right on point especially about Welter. He did make a couple of plays Sat but overall he was too easily blocked. However I saw we had #23 in at MLB several times in the game and he wasn't any more effective.
  4. 23 is Lamar Louis. I don't know who would be considered an MLB beyond those 2; it looks like they see Beckwith on the outside.
  5. because he doesnt know the plays....... i kid, but he should be playing. If he is going to play DE, I think he is better than Rasco and just behind Allen and Hunter, but that doesnt make feel good about the MLB position and the future of it.

  6. Exactly. Until somebody has the stuff to take Welter's job away, the coaches are going to play him. I saw Welter make several good plays in the game. Just because he isn't Minter doesn't make him "useless". The same people were ragging on Reid last year and he was an All-American.

  7. I was noticing Welter this past game as well, simply because issy keeps ragging on him. The biggest thing I see is he seems to be timid in stepping up into the hole and taking the hit. It seems he always lets the RB get even with him and then he would tackle from behind. Even when he made credited stops, he was tackling from behind. I haven't noticed him stop someone for no gain yet. ... always allows the extra yard or two in the drag from behind tackle. AND ... the poor fella is not that fast and needs to learn how to track the angle of approach on outside plays.

Loston on the otherhand ... in my opinion is useless. Welter may be bad, but Loston has no business being in the pass protection scheme. He's cost us several TDS, and the UGA game.

I agree these two are weak, ... as such, I'd have to adjust your analysis to 3/4 and 3/4.
  8. never say die on Welter, huh fellas.
  9. At least Welter made a few plays. He ran down Murphy on one I remember, but LostOne is nothing and I mean nothing if he can't head hunt.
  10. I don't believe in throwing players under the bus when they are working hard. The entire defense has improved, including Welter. Who exactly do you want to see in his place? Lamar Louis hasn't shown himself to be any better.
