Well, it happened, and they fired the whole staff... But to rephrase what I meant about "hiring from within..." reread what I said... I didn't want Skip to overreact and fire the ENTIRE staff and then hire the first guy (i.e. Rick Jones) that seemed like a good hire. I know that he wouldn't do that, but I also didn't expect him to make such a rash decision so soon. Don't get me wrong, I think Skip is a great AD, but hiring Smoke was a mistake--a grave mistake. I guess he learned from his mistake, but I wouldn't put it passed him hiring another bonehead. Furthermore, Turtle is a good coach and a great recruiter it sure sucks to have thrown him out too...

I think Jones would give his left sock to coach at LSU.:hihi:

Seriously, it's a struggle to get kids to a small private school with the scholly limits these days. He's done a remarkable job at Tulane, but I think he'd take the LSU job in a heartbeat knowing he could do so much more with our money, fan support and the soon-to-be new stadium.

Which seems to be the response I get from Tulane fans when I preach to them that playing LSU is good for the OOC schedule, RPI, and that a solid in state rivalry is a good thing.

I wish it were that easy. Like Okie said, I love the Tulane rivalry. If we take their coach, who knows where Tulane would go. There are other (possibly better) fishes in the sea and LSU will land them. I still say go with Horton.. :yelwink2:

Oh, I'm not suggesting that we hire Jones. Just stating the fact that he would take the job if offered.

    My guy is Bianco.

its actually pretty easy at the private schools because .7 (which is now known as a voogd) at a tulane or rice is worth way more than it is at LSU.

oh and we do play rice every year, in greenieville, at the pontiff classic.

But would Skip pony up what it would take to lure away Bianco? He seems pretty happy with the Missies, and they seem to be willing to give him what ever he wants. I heard they are going to expand their stadium as attendence pretty much demands that they have to. I would bet they would be willing to match any $$ offered.

Don't those athletes at Tulane and Rice have to meet higher academic standards to get in? NCAA standards are lower and many of these private schools don't lower their standards for athletes.

Good coaches like Jones and Graham could win anywhere.

I was speaking about having a rival spouse to Tigerbait. I think having an LSU wife makes it a lot easier to laze around and watch sports.

    Carry on.
