"Carol City star Ricky Jean-Francois stunned everyone by not showing up for his signing
    BY MANNY NAVARRO
Wednesday, Carol City defensive lineman Ricky Jean-Francois pulled what could be the county's most dramatic signing day moment when he didn't show up for the ceremony at all.
Jean-Francois, a blue-chip All-American defensive end and The Herald's co-Athlete of the Year in Miami-Dade last year, never made it to campus, coaches said, despite telling them repeatedly he was on his way.
Jean-Francois could not be reached for comment Wednesday night, but his mother, Zora Jones, said her son would not be making a decision on college until ``later.''
Carol City coach Walt Frazier said Jean-Francois had two scholarships -- one from LSU and another from South Florida -- waiting for him on a desk in the library. Neither of those programs had Jean-Francois on its list of signees released late Wednesday.
Frazier said Jean-Francois had recently received an improved test score and ''only needed to raise his GPA a few points'' to reach NCAA admissions standards."

Maybe his improved test scores has prompted other (Florida) universities into offering him at the last minute?

Anyone think, upon hearing that his test scores are improving that this U may have thrown out a line or two his way?

It depends on what school has scholarships left and is hurting on defense.

My first thoughts go right to Gainesville.

They lost their top DE recruit to Miami. (Richard Gordon)

But they are in the defensive mess they are in primarily because of academic fall-offs to begin with.

Meyer has started to be verbal about it, saying that Florida shouldn't be in the position of having to start true freshmen linebackers next year, but it is currently a mute point, as that is exactly what they will have to do. :sob:

As the old saying goes, throw as much as you can at the wall and hope that most of it sticks. That was exactly how Zook recruited.

Actually, "untenable," is probably the best choice.

I use, "mute," because it tends to point to the unspoken for obvious reasons.
