heres a long article you may find interesting, sourdough.

    link

    The War on Terrorism
One reason the “War on Terrorism” may not prove as effective as the U.S. government hopes is because some of the areas with the highest recruitment rates are not in the Middle East, where the military campaign is focused, but in Europe, in countries like Britain, France and Germany.

    Tactics and the Future
It is not in al-Qaeda’s agenda to establish an Islamic state in the U.S., but through the assassination of political leaders and economic destabilization, al-Qaeda members hope that the United States will pull its forces out of territories in the Middle East, enabling them to establish hard-line Islamic theocracies there.

According to Daniel Pipes, author and the executive director and founder of the Middle East Forum, the amount of Islamist-sponsored terrorism in the U.S. is sure to increase dramatically in the next few years. Pipes asserted that with each successful attempt, Islamists would continue to believe that the U.S. is weakening and will be further demoralized. “I think that the U.S. is going to be more and more determined and therefore be ready to combat these attacks,” said Pipes. He also said that the main problem with which American officials must grapple is not Islamic fundamentalists coming in from the Middle East and Europe, but monitoring the extremists who already live in the U.S., “utilizing American resources against us.”

It appears that al-Qaeda might be shifting its focus from hijackings to well-planned assassinations of world leaders and Western diplomats, as well as bombings of “soft targets.”

You and Tirk may be missing my point.
I'm for Bush and the war on terror.

But our government is responsible for Americans safety at home and abroad.
We shouldn't have innocent civilians in harms way without having troops to
protect them or have stability in a country where they can work freely.

Otherwise its like committing suicide and having a bullseye on every convoy.

Do you not think its stupid having civilians murdered over there and have no
    way to defend themselves?

I'm reading the article now and it is ppl right to work there, I just don't like the idea of Americans civilians working in a hostile and unstable country.
It is the governments function to protect the ppl from enemies foreign and
    domestic I believe.

I just don't think Bush and todays government have done enough to protect
these civilians working over there, that is all.

I'm tired of innocent ppl dying and we don't do anything!

If you get a major construction contract to go to Iraq to build a hospital or restore power or whatever, its your right to go but you damn well know the consequences. You know what the situation is and if you get your head whacked off, you knew long before accepting it may happen. No one government can prevent it. stop looking to blame US. theres enough of that without you piling on.

The administration has warned americans in those areas to get the hell out. If they don't, that's their a$$. We cannot forcibly remove them.

You and Tirk are probably right.
I think Americans are insane for being or going there now.
No matter how much money, to me its not worth raising the % of me being
    beheaded or killed.

No thank You, I gladly clean toilets and dig ditches instead.
