Ole Miss will be this years Kentucky. Wouldn't be surprised to see Ole-Miss in Atlanta for the peach or Nashville for the music city.

Coach O might not be able to talk, but he can recruit.

Chief, you are talking the talk before you've walked the walk.

Seems to me that the crimson imagines that Nick alone will take them to the promised land. Be cocky while you can, the reality may be very disappointing..

Just my personal opinion, but 4-digit posters who aren't contributor's are freeloaders.

Bama is no longer attractive to top recruits.

I've heard this numerous times about Bama/Rivals but overall the star/ranking system is biased on both Scout and Rivals. The only stars I really care about are the ones who our coaches recruit. They know better than Rivals and Scout any day of the week.

While its normal for the schools signing the higher ranked classes to be good teams its also pretty obvious there is not a whole lot of difference between 3* & 4* players. Even 5* players, except the odd phenom, are not guaranteed super stars in college. If that was the case Miami, FSU and Tenn would have won all the MNC's in the last 5 years and teams like Boise State, Wake Forest and Rutgers would be bottom dwellers year in and year out. These kids that come in as super stars from their HS teams are all of a sudden just another player in college and many cant adjust to that role.

We've had plenty of busts who were highly rated and so has most other teams. If teams are consistently signing top 20 classes they have just as good a shot at winning as those who sign top 5 classes year in and year out. Its why I put little merit in teams winning the recruting rankings. Its what you do with them once they get here that counts.

It's not so much the stars that prompted my post, because obviously stars dont make the player. Recruiting has sort of a snowball effect on a program. If Saban pulls in a top 10 or 5 class, then the program gets recognition, recruits start taking notice and want to be a part of what's going on down there. I don't want that effect to take place, especially if it's from false ratings from bias website owners.

You may be right, but we'll just have to wait and see.

you're right, 6-6 is probably more accurate.

Yeah, we heard talk like this after that 10 win season by Shula. Remember "Bama is BACK!!!"? Whatever happened to that?

Saban seems to be doing pretty good recruiting. He may not compete for a NC next year, but I have a feeling he will turn Bama around similar to what he did at LSU. He does have Auburn to contend with, but there is plenty of talent out there and Saban will probably be able to get his share.

Most of you guys have a pretty low opinion of Saban and seem to forget what he did here. You can carry on about his inconsistent records, but without Saban LSU wouldn't be a national powerhouse. So far Miles has kept on chugging along, but Saban is getting interest from recruits and will do pretty well despite not having a full season to recruit.

I think you guys are protesting too much - I don't think it is realistic to assume Saban will fail. Most recruits don't look at him in the same light as most of us do. Saban has made Alabama a much bigger threat to LSU's recruiting success. But...

Miles seems up to the task and has LSU competing at the top level. We have a highly rated class and hopefully we will have a great 2007 campaign. We will miss Russell's arm, but hopefully the wheels on Flynn and Perriloux will bring a different, positive dimension to our offense. We've got some impact players to replace, but Miles has been recruting well since he got here.
