The AJC reported today that Rodney Garner will meet with Miles on Wednesday to interview for an undisclosed position. Based on what has been discussed already in this neck of the woods, Garner was rumored to have been disappointed that he was not selected as the new DC at Georgia. I can't imagine that he would pick up and move his whole family to Baton Rouge for a lateral position, so I wonder if Miles might actually be considering him for the DC slot. (Garner is also the recruiting coordinator at UGA) How would you guys feel about having an Auburn alum as your new DC?
Garner has a reputation of being one of the best recruiters in the business. If Miles can steal him from UGA it would be a huge bonus.
We've got one coaching the O-Line and he's doing OK. UGA to LSU may be a lateral move, but if he doesn't see any future with the Dawgs, it could be a career move.
Here's a link to his coaching resume. http://georgiadogs.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/garner_rodney00.html
The one thing I do not like about Garner is that he does have a reputation for being a bit on the sleezy side of recruiting.
He hasn't gotten into any trouble for his recruiting, the Tee Martin thing at Ut was the only thing I've ever heard anything about and I am not sure if he really had anything to do with it. I wonder if he is pissed about being passed over for the DC job at UGA? Anybody seen Southlink lately?
Are you asking if Garner learned how to recruit from Fulmer? Now that Chizik is going to Texas, I wonder if he will also try to interview at Auburn. And the final recruiting days are counting down...
The thing that worries me if that Garner has been at UGA for what now? 7 years? Yet no one has even offered him anything higher-up and/or no pay increases have been offered to him..... Makes me wonder if there is a reason for it.
