Has anyone ever cared about the Pro Bowl? Usually it just depresses me cause it means football is over for the year.

But at least they'll be one more big one after this year's snoozefest...

If Goodell didn't force Benson's hand after Katrina, the San Antonio Saints would be playing in the Super Bowl.

Are there clauses in these guys' contracts that require them to attend the Pro Bowl if elected? I'm betting no, otherwise, we wouldn't see player after player beg out of the game for no good reason every year. As azfan pointed out, those "injured" guys are not required to show up and wave to the people.

Then there's this to consider: when it comes to personal conduct, the NFL is constantly passing rules that surpress the individual for the sake of the team. No excessive celebrations, no uniform alterations, no personal messages on the uniform, ad nauseum. It's all supposed to be about the team. Now we have a situation where the most important players on the two teams that are preparing for their ultimate game, are being told they must put aside their team and glorify themselves for awhile. :insane:

BTW, earlier this week Roman Harper was named to the NFC team as an alternate, the league doing this knowing full well he won't be playing. But, he's got to take away from his prep time to go to the game.....:insane::dis::insane:
