Well there is a lot of new personnel on the line and I believe as the season rolls along, they will get a lot better. I still believe that Scott is the best RB we have right now. JV and AB just aren't getting it done and sometimes it's up to the RB to make a play though.

Don't breathe on our backs, they might fall down. Terrible.

I don't think the problem is with the backs; it is with the offensive line.

Well since ABC took over the broadcast up here to show the f@ggie$ game I missed a bit. Tuned into Yahoo now just in time to see Hester TD. So, have we run the ball well? How did State score it's TD?

Our backs are too slow, don't break enough tackles, don't have strong enough legs, and the offensive line could do a better job blocking. Hester looks like the most elusive, with Scott probably giving us the best play as a true RB so far.

Don't the Colts have a non-existant run game and aren't they able to win?

But no, seriously, Our running needs work. I think the biggest issue though is JMarc was having such a good game that Miles and Jumbo didn't need to push the run. We didn't need to get it going for this game, so they didn't really try it. It was basically JMarc playing catch with a few of his boys in the backyard. Bad for us? Can be. I honesty think we need to make the commitment to Scott for a full game for once and see how it goes. They didn't give any RB enough time to get into the game and make stuff happen, especially for a true fresh RB it might be good to keep him in most of the game.

Next week is HUGE for our O line. The thought of coming out throwing the ball and trying to establish the run down the road scares me. The thought of trying to do it in The Swamp scares the hell out of me.

Work on it this week Les.

We didn't run the ball because we couldn't depend on that to keep the ball out of Mississippi St's hands. Broussard looked decent at the end. Hester can give us a different look and is versatile. I'd like to see Flynn run the ball more when he comes in.

I think Mississippi St is solid against the run, too. I'm disappointed we didn't show more ability to run the ball, but it was a nice win.

That might work well against MSU and the like, but you can't do that against the top tier SEC competition and expect to consistantly win. :dis:

As much as I HATE it when people nit-pick following a win, I have to admit that I'm feeling disappointed in our running game thus far.

We have a stable of VERY talented backs with so many different styles of running:

Scott and Alley are your north/south, brusing runners...

Hester, IMO, truely is LSU's most multi-dimensional back.

Keiland Williams probably has the speed and moves needed to succeed when the O-line isn't up to par, but it appears that his late arrival to campus because of the NCAA clearinghouse has put him behind the others in terms of learning the offense (but at this point in time, I would imagine that he has enough understanding).

...and JV appears to be the back most capable of getting you that 1 yard gain or less. ;) --just kidding! ....ugh....sorta?

But with all that apparent talent in the backfield, I just don't think it's the running backs that are the problem. I don't know if we have the O-linemen that are capable of consistant run blocking? Arnold is our best all-around lineman. Big Herm, one would think, run blocks well enough.... Brian Johnson has been around long enough, and is definately good enough. I think our question marks on the O-line are Dyakowski and Ciron Black--two players that don't have hardly ANY game experience prior to this season.

BLack is a RS-Freshman, so I'm sure that in the next few years, he'll get better. As for Dyakowski...I just don't know...
