I'd have to guess Jerry Stovall. He was the runner-up back in '62. Tommy Hodson was our last serious heisman candidate, but I don't think he made it to NY.
Recently I posted my opinion on Russell and the disappointment that there were some that were still calling for RP. Not trying to stir the pot and absolutely no disrespect to RP or any of the fine gentlemen that are on this great team. I simply wanted to express how much I enjoyed JR, watching his growth and how I felt that everyone should get behind him and save QB talk until next year. I was extremely excited to read this article this morning when I found my copy of USA Today on my hotel room door. Russell is a genuinely good person and a class act. He deserves all the success he can handle and his completely unselfish nature only solidifies him as a leader of this team and LSU's Heisman regardless of what the rest of the nation sees. This article is a must read for all LSU Fans. I'm proud to have him here and can't wait to see him at Auburn. :thumb:
If we don't win a BCS game JR will not win the Heisman. I believe LSU success and JR's go hand in hand. Just the way it is.
He's not going to win the Heisman for two reasons. 1. Media market 2. Because we are too balanced on offense.
Some of you guys sound like a bunch of jews in a hen house. If JR wins the Heisman or we even get close to a National Championship it's a great season. Just enjoy the talent on the field and hope for the best.....and stop sounding like a bunch of arrogant ***holes!
It made my day yesterday when I walked out of my hotel room and saw the JR article as the cover story in the USA today. I am working in Massachusets right now, and any LSU talk is very welcome. I hung the story on the wall of the cubicle I am sitting in.
