yes, I mean he was only the offensive coordinator. Surely the defensive line coach is partly to blame for the offensive problems. Maybe the water boy should take some blame too.

Ummm...he got 5.5 touches. How many do receivers usually get per game?

And after that first game vs. UNC, he couldn't seem to do anything right.

I agree that he could probably be used better as a RB in the right system (like WVU or Urban Florida), but he's not an LSU back. That's just not how we do things here.

Honestly...I'd LOVE to see him play CB and kick return specialist. But I know I'm in a minority. Whatever.

Lastly, the dude's only a sophomore. Being a sophomore and a first-year WR, I was surprised he did as well as he did. I personally think he'll have something of a breakout year coming up. We'll see.

What could he do? I don't know. Catch the ball? Score touchdowns? Like, you know, Ridley. Or Toliver. Or Randle. Or anybody else on the team that performs. He tried QB and failed miserably so I don't see that as an option. What he was in HS has nothing to do with this.

Obviously Miles does not have a clue either. No, he can't catch the ball very well. And he can't score touchdowns if he rarely gets the ball. I guess the only option left is to transfer, which appears to be what you and Miles would prefer.

I'm sure that Miles wants the best for all of his players. As we have seen recently, he has encouraged players to leave the program if they do not fit in, regardless of their talent level. Since the coaching staff has tried for 2 years and still cannot find a way for RS to contribute relative to his talent level, the step that would best benefit both parties would be for RS to transfer. This is, however, NOT what I would want to see, because anyone who reads this forum regularly knows that I am perhaps RS's stongest advocate here.

If Les felt RS could help LSU win, RS would be seeing the ball more. Period.

Here's some things to consider Doc.

Who decided Shep should play WR? Unless you have some link that states otherwise, I'm gonna go with Russell Shepard. There is no other quote from an involved party that you can find, but I can find several that quote Russell Shepard himself saying he ASKED to be moved to WR.

How many touches does the average WR get? Shep gets more than most. So that shoots down the "rarely gets the ball" theory. He's pretty much on the field every play, he just hasn't...to this point...taken advantage of his opportunities.

FWIW, I think he should be THE one getting the ball on plays like "The River" instead of DPete. Shep would've scored on that play against Bama. I also think he should be given opportunities to throw the ball. FWIW, there were two plays this past season that I can think of right now where it looked like he was gonna throw, but the defense was all over him before he could do it.

I don't have so much of a problem with his catching ability. My problem is with his blocking, route running, and lack of understanding what the crap is going on.

With that said, he was a true sophomore playing WR for the first time. I do think he'll improve and be productive. However, you might consider that it is very likely there were better WRs sitting on the bench this year while Shep was on the field for almost every play.

So you think he'd be better in a different system. No chit, Cherlock. SHEP chose to come here. I'd be willing to bet he'd like to play in the NFL one day. I can guarantee you he won't do it as a Pat White or Denard Robinson type QB. Shep's only chance is at WR, as long as he stays on offense. I bet he knows that, too.

I think he'll probably be the main kickoff returner this upcoming season, so he'll get his chance to shine there. I surely hope you and others aren't thinking he should have already been doing that. I believe Trindon Holliday and Patrick Peterson held that down pretty well the last couple of years. Now maybe it's his turn. Other than that, he needs to concentrate on improving as a WR...which is more than just catching the ball. He has got to learn to block and run proper routes. This past season, he was an abysmal failure at those things...worse than his catching/lack of catching.

I think he's a running back playing out of position. He not big enough to be a 20-carries-a-game SEC starter, he couldn't take the pounding. But he can get his yardage on fewer carries with his speed and moves.

I'd like to see him in the two-back set and carry it 9-12 times a game, sharing carries with a power back, and slip out for quick short passes in the flat to use his legs for yardage, not his hands.

He's a friggin sophomore that started every game this season. You're blinded by your Shep mancrush.

    To a fault...
