But I'd still say Russell has a stronger arm than Bradshaw, didnt you guys see the sugarbowl??? Bradshaw just kept on talking about Russell's arm...
Bradshaw and Elway were tops prior to JaMarcus. I think JR has them beat. I don't ever remember seeing anyone with the sheer arm strength of JR. I'm glad I got to see him wear the Purple and Gold! Thanks JR!!! :geauxtige
Like Russell, I was no track star (and thats being generous). My coach asked me to come out to a meet after watching me mess around with the Javelin for a couple of weeks and I was surprisingly leading until I was passed by a guy who walked up and threw it for basically his first time - for a state record. Damn you JaMarcus. o:

Chevis actually holds the state record for Class 5A javelin in the state. Javelin—Chevis Jackson (St. Paul’s)—178’ 6”--2004 http://www.ahsaa.com/records/trackandfield-boys.asp#_Toc477680482
That's a year after JaMarcus' record. But has anyone seen JaMarcus Russell as a highschooler? He was skinny as hell, look at him now, my guess is he would compete on international level in the Javelin with that arm!!!:hihi:
Back in the early to mid 90's, there used to be a competition every year, can't remember what it was called, though. QB's like Bledsoe, Favre, and Cunningham would throw the ball as far as they could, and it had to land within the boundaries, which was like 15-20 yards wide. Cunningham, if I remember correctly, had the longest throw recorded. It was like 74 yds. or something. Both Bledsoe and Favre threw it as far, but when they did, it would land out of bounds. I noticed during the Sugar Bowl, and in other highlights I have watched, Jamarcus has thrown the ball as far as 60 yards in the air, when taking the actual point from which he released the ball, not the line of scrimmage. Difference is, he was wearing pads, and generally on the move when he threw. Also, as noted earlier in the thread, he did it with a flick of the wrist, and hit his receiver in stride. I say he can throw it 75-80 yards without pads or oncoming rushers, and really being able to let it rip.
Bradshaw's national record stands at 239-11.5 http://www.lhsaa.org/sports/outdoortrack/BoysStateTrackRecords.pdf It's on the last page
Dan Pastorini of the Oilers (late 70s, early 80s) allegedly could throw it from endzone to endzone. Also, don't forget about Randall Cunningham. Dude had a cannon.
