Re: Ryan Perrilloux back on team per Buddy Songy He was never "off the team" or "away from the team" like it was widely known. He has been working his butt off and running his butt off, up and down and around Tiger Stadium bleachers to pay his dues. I said this in another thread when it 1st started and will say it again, even though I promised a few of you in PMs that I wouldn't. He was suspended more for his own good than for his "punishment". When a kid's dad dies, you have to give him time to grieve. Miles felt and rightfully so, that pushing that period aside would have let to trouble down the road (over the summer). And with him taking care of his business with his family, he has been working out and is in the best shape of his life, while Lee and Hatch have more confidence... win-win for everyone.
Re: Ryan Perrilloux back on team per Buddy Songy Agree this is exactly what I hear from a source close to the team.
Re: Ryan Perrilloux back on team per Buddy Songy Miles is a career football coach, and is paid millions. He knows more than any of us. But, just for the purpose of furthering the amateur discussions we have on here, here are some purely random thoughts: Why does Miles or LSU or TAF do anything to lead Tiger Fans to believe that RP is not someone that we are proud of at LSU? I remember Miles or LSU or TAF doing something to the effect of not even allowing RP the responsibility of answering questions from the media. A part of me doesn't get that. I think if RP was allowed his time in front of the media, that fans would realize he's not the thug they think he is -- that they'd see that the guy is a good kid. If the guy wasn't a good kid, he would be kicked off our team -- and rightfully so. Also, why does Miles or LSU or TAF have to make people feel like RP is in the doghouse? Why would Miles or LSU or TAF play games like giving someone else than RP the first snap of next season? I can understand Miles taking the entire football team, making them get on their faces and start pumping out hundreds and hundreds of push-ups where they all count together: "1 for RP using his brother's ID to get into a casino and embarrassing us... 2 for RP using his brother's ID to get into a casino and embarrassing us... 3 for RP using his brother's ID to get into a casino and embarrassing us... etc. etc. etc. I could understand Miles making the team do other punishment sessions of push-ups with counts such as "1 for RP not being the leader we expect of him" or "1 for RP not caring enough about us and his future" or "1 for RP being involved in a bar fight" or "1 for RP missing a team meeting" or "1 for RP having a poor attitude," etc. I'd have no problem with Miles doing that. But, again, why does Coach or LSU or TAF have to make Tiger Fans feel that we can't be proud of RP? Why does RP have to be suspended? Why do Tiger Fans have to be led to believe that RP is not a leader, when the reality is that RP is a leader... as he will clearly prove to all of you next season?
Re: Ryan Perrilloux back on team per Buddy Songy You are all over the place this morning but I was just making guesses based on what Miles has done in the past to keep RP on his toes. Coaches are paid millions to show the fans he can control the ship and public perception is a big factor in that department. Not saying that is how it should be but it has been that way across the country and across all sports. I agree that if he was allowed to talk to the media he might have shown fans that he is a good kid and he will get that chance but Miles isn't the 1st to do this. Miles has allowed him to talk to the media during the SEC championship week because he was the starting QB and out of the doghouse. And he will get his chance to talk to the media again but why do so now when many fans would just use his words as ammo and take the spotlight off the good the rest of the team is doing in the Spring. I do not agree with the pushups stuff because that would send the wrong message to the rest of the team. He wants everyone accountable for their actions because RP was not the only one missing classes, etc... Miles is a great CEO and has made the right decisions so far. I agree that he will show who he really is this year because he is a leader for this team on the field.
Re: Ryan Perrilloux back on team per Buddy Songy My take on that is that Miles may not be as concerned about whether the fans feel proud of RP, but rather, the immediate goal is to set RP on the right path. He must obviously have balanced things out seeing the huge up side of RP, and that he is not "hopeless". He IS the best player at this time for the QB position. He has to keep things under control, and it is a smart thing to restrict media access not just to show RP that he means business, and that he is expendible by reminding everyone that there are other quality QB's on the roster; that would also not allow media access or hype get to RP's head. Media exposure at this juncture for RP would only stir more things up by the media. If RP does everything right, he WILL naturally make LSU fans feel proud of him the next season.
Re: Ryan Perrilloux back on team per Buddy Songy Miles isn't the 1st coach to not allow player(s) to talk to the media. Coaches vary on who and why, but it is not uncommon at all. He was suspended. He IS (was) in the doghouse. I don't think they will have someone else take the 1st snap next year. But if they do, I'm gonna trust their reasoning. You don't win 10 games or more 3 straight years with an MNC by not knowing what you're doing. :insane: RP getting his name in the papers for negative things did that, not Miles or LSU or TAF. Because he broke the rules (whether you agree with the rule or not) even though he knew he was on a tight leash for breaking rules previously. It is called discipline. All coaches at all levels do it. Off the field so far, he has not shown the characteristics of a good team leader. He doesn't have enough playing time under his belt to say one way or another. I hope you are right. Our season will depend on his leadership qualities every bit as much as it will his playmaking abiliities.
Re: Ryan Perrilloux back on team per Buddy Songy RP will not return to Spring Practice. Bonnette said he isn't finished with his running. However, WJBO is now reporting he had another incident over the weekend at a local resturant and Songy is reporting the same. Not sure if it is a bad attempt at an April Fool's Joke, or rumors have been started because of him not returning to practice this week, or if an incident actually occured. I have ruled out one resturant that I know he often hangs out at. http://wjbo.com/cc-common/news/sections/newsarticle.html?feed=119442&article=3481320
Re: Ryan Perrilloux back on team per Buddy Songy hadnt been able to hear otts show in months til yesterday. bryan lazarre was on and mentioned RP was not allowed back at practice yesterday due to not fulfilling his obligations. i was going to post it but i wasnt in the mood for rp drama. i suppose im the only one who heard it.
Re: Ryan Perrilloux back on team per Buddy Songy If that's true, I will not hold out any hope that we finish the season with him- and would be very pissed. Surely that can't be true, he can't be that big of a meathead, I have to believe he is smarter than that to get in trouble again.
