Big difference. The other kids arent part of a team that are bound by team rules. RP has been suspended because he has broken team rules 3 times. I don't want to throw him under the bus but it sure sounds like he needs a little more help somewhere.

I try not to break any laws. I have in my past and learned from those mistakes. Coach is giving this kid every opportunity to straighten up and keep himself out of the newspapers (for non-football related material). For some reason, he seems to be pushing his luck.

I agree he needs some tough love, but for a lot to totally wash their hands of the situation because of a couple of issues is dumb. If my family felt the same way, I wouldn't have made it out of high school. Some kids learn from the school of hard knocks... RP seems to be one of the those kids, and hopefully he will put it all together while he still has time.

its not that his punishment will/should be determined by the severity of the situation.

but rather the kiddo knew his leash was so small it was non existent. he should show respect for someone that was VERY generous to let him still be on the team after his second offense. you dont take advantage of a third 3rd/4th/5th chance, no matter how small the infraction is.

I understand, but to say its because of his schollie and not the fact that he is one of the most highly touted recruits LSU has landed... is a falsity.

Boy how times have changed since 1963, or have they?

After an 8-0 start to his junior season Namath was suspended for drinking and was forced to miss the Sugar Bowl. Joe had no other choice then to sit out quietly and wait for next season. The truth was that Namath only took a sip of beer that night but media reports claimed that Namath was belligerent and trying to direct traffic while drunk. Not knowing who to believe, Bryant was forced to suspend Namath for the season.
