7&8 yrs old- pitching machine ... the kid got ZERO discipline from his parents. They thought he was acting like an 8 year old boy. Physically, the kid was amazing: 8 years old standing 5 feet tall and weighed close to 100 lbs. He knocked in 41 runs for us in 20 games, played 1st base and hit 3 homeruns. HOWEVER, everytime something didn't go his way we had to deal with his temper. My point is - we only won 7 of those 20 games, but lost a lot of close ones. Without him we probably win 3 or 4 games total- not much difference. We should have kicked him off the team and just had fun, minus the cancer. Instead, we tried to ignore the elephant sitting in the room with us, which may have sent a terrible message to some of our kids/parents. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
1 hour kills a thread now??? I get the feeling you lack patience. I also get the feeling this thread will last for awhile this early into the offseason.
Thats why when we discuss the Luther Davis's and Ryan PErrilloux's of the world I put a lot of the blame for their bad choices on their parents/guardians....if they got their butts beat when they were having a tantrum at 2 in Delchamps b/c you refused to but the Skittles then by 4 they would realize "No" means 'NO!"...not ask again or question what mom/dad says....when Johnny acts like a turd on the soccer/baseball/football field in pee-wee his PARENTS (not coach at this point) need to teach him this is unaccecptable...and is the SKITTLE lesson has already been done then Johnny won't question b/c he'll know not to do so....it all builds from day 1 to get them where they are now....yes there will be struggles and battles, but as long as they have learned early to basically FEAR their parents wrath, it'll all be good....enabling them doesn't help them....... off soapbox...again
Based on what happened in the fall, one would think his last "suspension" would have kicked his ass a bit. Honestly, Flynn being hurt for the SECCG may have been the worst thing for the 2008 team. Looking back at the stats, after he was suspended for Bama, he was used in 7 plays (passing or running himself) after that game, aside from the SECCG. 6 in mop up duty against LA Tech, and 1 in the NCG. It seems that Miles was trying to make a point by not using him, but it was lost a bit when the team needed RP to step up and take the starting role.
Agree 100%. In this kid's case, the parents were COMPLETELY to blame. No discipline. No punishment. No rules. I really hope RP gets his act together, but something tells me that he won't. He's had plenty of 2nd chances so far at LSU, but it doesn't look like he's figured it out yet.
Wasn't referring to RP .... was referring to my previous posts about a kid on my baseball team with major attitude problem.
