1. No, its just pointing out how exaggerated Perrilloux offenses are compared to some of our rivals and some of our own problem children, Like Derrick Odom or Cecil Collins.

Sportswriters calling for his dismissal are not paying attention. RP exercises poor judgement but he isn't a violent criminal. Les quickly dismissed 5 players in the off season last year for crimes both serious and petty, but Perrilloux was only charged with one victimless crime. He basically a teenage slacker college student like so many of his classmates on campus. Like I was, in fact.

If his brain catches up with his tremendous physical talent, he'll be a high NFL draft pick. Les' job is to take players with talent and make them into football players and some of them into leaders. Perrilloux is a tough nut, but Les is cracking him. It doesn't help Perrilloux or LSU for him to quit or get booted. Les knows what he is doing and the lines have been made very clear. He's not going to have one set of rules for 104 players and another for RP. He's not going to let a Houston Nutt situation happen here either.

Perhaps RP is not a bad kid, but he's still a kid and it's time to be a man. Perrilloux needs to grow up a whole lot between now and August and Les is letting him know it.

It's all up to Perrilloux . . . it always has been. But it's not about him being some kind of thug that needs dismissing. It's just about him being disappointing to his teammates and coaches. That's a very different matter and one Les was apparently trying to contain as a private team punishment before Mr. Rumormonger Blogger heard it and turned it into "Perrilloux and his Mom were shaking down LSU and he got dismissed".

  2. I think Miles will take more heat in the media if he doen't kick off Perrilloux.

If it's real small, petty things, it's harder to kick him off the team, Like Red pointed out, if a blogger doesn't break it, it may have been handled internally. (like a certain ex-coach of ours did)

Miles has been in this business long enough to know better than having different sets of rules for different players, and that you can lose your team over it.

Let's let Miles handle it and see how it shakes out. He's earned the benefit of the doubt.
  3. Absolutely agreed on both counts!
  4. Another FWIW email I received:

  5. If true, that's very disappointing (ref: Miles' knee-jerk reaction). I can see how it could happen, but he's getting paid a lot of money and one of his most critical "executive" jobs is managing external communications.

    Again - if true.

Who is Norm and does he appreciate you outing him?
  6. Enters RP's mom? Rightfully?
  7. Just for fun, here's a different rumor from TOS:

Makes no sense judging from Miles' Monday press release ("suspended indefinitely" vice "temporarily" or "reprimanded" or "disciplined"), but makes for interesting dinner conversation....
  8. NORM!
  9. Re: WWL siting inside sources from LSU/lsusport.net story - merged threads

Bear suspended Joe Namath for a year for basically same stuff. Mary Margaret got Joe back on the team and Joe didn't get in trouble until he left Alabama. It might have cost Bama a NC.
  10. Man I hope I get the quote thing right this time...It bothers me that I keep screwing it up....that said..
Crunch, Is there an implied hope that he GETS another chance?? If he played for the evil enemy would you be hoping the same thing??

I gotta go eat...Now where did I put that can of Spam?....
