Another Bama thread? C'mon Calco.. Ole man, the wife has you doing those off-season chores already? I guess knowing that I can't fault you for such a long post about Bama. Hang in there, the fall will be here before you know it! It will be as if you never had to go to any plays, ballets, or operas with the wife!

226 days. I don't know about you, but that seems like an eternity to me.

HOWEVER, only 20 day 'till NSD...a couple of months until spring camp...then there's summer camps, clinics, updates from the S&C program...

IF you are going to follow football 365...gotta develop a schedule. :thumb:

Re: Chadd lets the bammers have it!

    Two things...

    1) Saban was at Mich. St. when the Means situation was going on. He had an asst. that was recruting Means and Mich. St. was mentioned as one of the schools that had been "offered." That being said, I can't remember exactly, but I think they pulled out.

    2) All the schools in the SEC received letters from Roy Kramer about Means being shopped...except one.

I couldn't tell you how the staff will handle athletes in Mphs. I will say, if I were to choose one area of the country that he has his sights set on...right now, demostrated by his visits this week, it's the Gulf area. Specifically, Mobile.

Memphis has been a shady area for years now...when I was living there in the last 80's it was very evident. The easiest way I know how to describe it now is there are boosters who have made contact with different "players" in the area...and those "players" are the ones making the contact with the recruit. There is a well known poster on one of the TN forums that is one of these players...and has admit so, many times, publically. (Picture the AAU basketball program...)

As of today, we don't have (or at least I'm not aware of any) Mphs area athletes on our recruiting board.

FWIW, one of the reasons you are seeing more and more comments about Coach O facing some sanctions at Ole' Miss soon is the supposed "fence" he was going to build around the area. It's a shame...there are some great athletes in that area who are having their lives shot to hell because of the "power brokers" within the community and their school.

What you say about all the talent available in Louisiana is true. I wonder why it took forty-five years to find someone to build a champion. If Saban did it, it must be easy. Right?

Consider my lack of knowledge about LSU's history...have you ever had a coach leave, and have success at another program?

When baseball season is over with, then it is time to start the countdown to football. LSU is more then just a football school!

    Dawned on me....

I made a mistake and forgot that we called Chris Walker, LB out of Mphs, yesterday.

He's a UT verbal right now...

I'm not really sure, but I don't think so.

    In the modern era:
Paul Deitzel left a couple of years after winning a NC and regretted it forever. I think he went to a service acadamy then South Carolina. He is retired and living in Baton Rouge. After him it was McClendon and LSU was his last job. Bo Rien (who died in a plane wreck before coaching his first game), Stovall, Arnsbarger, Archer, Hallman, Dinardo, Saban and Miles.

Of all LSU coaches, not a single one has left and had as much or more success than they had at LSU, including Saban (so far). That's interesting and hopefully instructive regarding Saban.

....which makes me wonder, has bama ever had a coach leave and achieve success in another program? :)
