What I've pointed to continually is still being ignored for giggles. Not that I would expect less. I can understand how you feel. But, there isn't a soul here that understands or knows what he's inherited. You mention lack of parity but in the decade of the 70's we played a lot of ranked opponents in that era. I don't think anyone can repeat the success of that decade in NC's. In conference, it's very well possible. We saw in last decade with Florida. See my first post on this...
I said I thought this team would win 9 games, yes. I also expected some of the attitudes to change, and they didn't. Now, do I place the blame at Saban's feet or at the players? You can tell a person what they need to do all day long and unless they buy into it it won't happen. Now, is who is at fault there? The person who is the instructor or the person who should be listening? Sure, he failed in some areas this year but you can't put a definitive responsibility on any single individual in a team sport, can you? Quite frankly, when I continue seeing the "more talent" lines thrown about it seems a bit duplicitous. It's going to take some attrition to correct the problems. They had their chance, I believe (or maybe a better term is had faith) they would see where they were missing the boat. They didn't. So be it. Wouldn't you agree that it is ironic to be bringing more talent and expectations into this conversation?
No, it's intentional. I see you're quoting the tidefans talking points. "It's the players fault, we have to get rid of the Shula loser players. Saban did all he could, they just wouldn't buy in. blah, blah, blah." All this from a guy who smugly questioned Miles's ability and openly compared AC staffs, claiming bama's superiority all summer. Saban and bama underachived this year. While he will recruit well and make the Tide better in the long run, (and the jury is still out on whether he'll be as successfull there as he was here) he did not get the most out of his team. No matter how you spin it. Like I said, you knew what he had, and what was in front of him, you said nine wins. 6-6
I know this next post of mind might shake the bandwidth of Tigerforums but I believe it to be true. Lou Holtz would have done a better job with this Bama team! :thumb: Why? Because he's a motivator of the team that is in front of him. Saban failed his players this year. If the coach of Louisiana Monroe can coach less talented players to beat Bama then why can't Saban win one game in November knowing this has been a past problem in recent years? That being said he may succeed next year. We will just have to wait and see. I respect Saban for acknowledging his failure.
Which, is the truth. You are speaking on something you know little, if anything, about. I've said hundreds of times on this very forum there were mentality issues and discipline issues with this team. LONG before Saban arrived. Smugly? No. Questioned? Yes. I don't know what "AC staffs" is referring to. Did I say that the staff at Bama was going to make waves on the recruiting fields? Yes. Did I say they would be better than the last staff? Yes. Have I claimed Bama's superiority all summer? NO. I've said all along I expected Alabama to lose the LSU game. I've said all along I expected LSU to win the West. You've seen some of the things I've questioned come to reality this year. And I have admitted such. I haven't spun a damn thing. Yet, you seem to choose to ignore the very problems I've pointed to for the last few years as a spin on this year? It certainly appears discussing other teams in the SEC is an exercise in futility with you.
Easy dude, seems I've struck a nerve. AC is what I put for asistant coaches. You're on a LSU board. With our history and hard feelings for Saban, what do you expect. You get a lot more leniancy here than I do on tidefans. I never claimed to know as much about Bama as an insider like you. But don't come here looking for bouquets for Saban. I think the questions I raise are fair and legitimite. I don't think for this season, he earned 4 mill. In the long run maybe, we'll have to see.
quote:from some hostile LSU fan! You have got to be freaking kidding! LSU would be dumb phucks to take him back! unquote I was feaking kidding man, you should seek counciling or some medical help for your mental problems. I thought it was pretty funny myself!
You guys need to stop giving terry and Nick a hard time. I had a lot of fun with it too but I also think like others in the minority here that Nick could become quite successful at Alabama in the future. There is nothing that says LSU or Auburn are going to be on top of the SEC west forever. I agree, we better get in some jabs this year but Nick Saban's success will be when his recruits start hitting the field. Actually Les Miles is kinda in the same situation here, we won't now until next year just how good most of his recruits are and where we are headed. Its the honest truth! Edit: I understand and agree CLM's has had better success than Saban with Saban's recruits. No conspiracy here!
