Saban. Great tenure. Screwed LSU in the end.

    Fightin, you da man.....

But you are not right on this issue of Saban and being upfront. He told everyone he wanted to stay at LSU yet it was no secret that he was being interviewed with the NFL teams as of late. So what? We all know it....and we all knew he was going to listen....so why should it come as a surprise that he left? He told us through the constant interviews the last 3 years that the NFL was his dream. I know he said through the media that he would stay here but what else would he say? I don't blame him one bit for saying what he said the last two years. It is part of the business.

My sister's husband left her two years ago. Your rant sounds like her and the other hens cackling around the kitchen table during holidays.

    Dolphins fan here.

I can only imagine how much it stinks to have a coach the caliber of Saban leaving.I could only equate it to having Jim Boeheim leave my colege,Syaracuse, for the NBA,I guess.

Anyways,my 2 cents, and I dont mean to offend anyones opinion:

Saban knew he was leaving Thursday, maybe sooner. The entire family decision thing was a rouse,as how did he evr get it to that point and not consult his wife.I think he pretty much said that in his PC,too.

I`d have a hard time being po`d at Saban as an LSU fans..think of how many great coaches have left college teams without the thrill of a national championship.

LSU will survive..their a bigtime program on college footballs map now.

No the family thing was legit. His wife and daughter did not want to go. You think he is going to say that in a press conference? Saban just chose his ego over his family.

    OK, folks, move on.

The trainwreck is over. Let's try to move on without arguing with each other.

On the other hand, if I knew that fighting with other board members would help me get through this period of depression and insomnia, then I'd post and fight often.

Only time is going to heal this wound. Some may think it's pathetic, but I'm currently suffering from a bit of depression and insomnia over losing our coach.

The first impression I got, along with several other high school coaches I was with, was when he spoke to a group of high school coaches at the PMAC when he first got hired. He just came across as "I know more than you". It was like we were wasting his time speaking to us. Not too personal. I realize it might just be his personality. Just seemed like he would try to make a connection to the coaches in the state. The last impression however was very similar.

I think LSU was good for Saban and Saban was good for LSU. LSU football has been one of pride for a long time. He was at the right place in his life at the right time. Timing, luck, asst. coaches, players, administration all helped LSU where they are today.

What I find interesting is that only after being called out on posting a reply to a message you obviously didn't read, did you actually go and read it. Looks like it took you a 1/2 hour to get through it too.

    He's entitled to his opinion.

Herbstreit was interviewed on Rome's show a couple months back and stated that Saban was interested in the Miami job when it was inevitable that Dave W. was on his way out. You smokin' crack if you think this deal started 11 days ago. He just got leaked out and LSU had to issue a public statement. on a different note, I read a very funny post on NOLA.com that rickey williams pot problems is to blame.

I am not sure if a few pages in the first post were needed to attempt sum this up......

Saban has first and foremost always been a business man and a professional. He's never really been the type to be comeone to open his heart to the media, much less the fans. Why would he do so at this point?

Sure, it would have been great to hear how great LSU fans were, how tough the decision was, etc etc. I do not know if his decision was tough though. I do not know how long it took for him to make his decision.

As I said, I do know that he's always been a business man first and foremost. I'd expect nothing more out of him. To me, if he'd come up with a lot of mushy seemingly heartfelt comments about LSU and its fans, I would have had some reservation as to whether or not they were truly heartfelt.
