Saban. Great tenure. Screwed LSU in the end.

I agree with you that he is who he is. It is just with all the "gut-wrenching" talk we heard about, we thought the press conf. would have been a little different. Oh well.

    No doubt! :thumb:

The only gut wrenching going on in this situation was from us fans. I know my xmas eve was terrible.

Im not going to bash Saban but I doubt he was gut wrenched about this. Yes, I dont like what happened but I think he handled it about as well as one can. He is leaving the program in VERY, VERY good shape and for that I am thankful and grateful.

I dont buy the "he didnt want to go" line though. It goes without saying that he wanted the NFL under the right circumstances and as soon as he got it, he left. Thats a far cry from someone having their hands pryed from the keys to the LSU program as some have stated. He wanted the NFL, he got the NFL. He wanted to leave.

I agree that he has been wanting to become a head coach in the NFL with control. His head has always been on a swivel. I do think that he did have some difficulty with his decision (see the thread I just started), not because of him but because his daughter and wife did not want to go. In the end, his needs and ego won out.

Yes, that comment made it very clear where everyone stood. I tried to talk them into it, I couldn't, so screw it we are leaving anyway.

Harsh...but true. Saban the man would not be our most favorite person but Saban the coach is a different story.

The Miami Herald has posted so much nonsense over the last several weeks that I would hold their credibilty towards the New York Times in Iraq.

i think we southerners expect too much of people in the friendliness dept. sure, saban didnt go out of his way to ask how your mom is doing and bake you a pie, but that doesnt make him a "prick". wasnt he somehwat close with his players, and they would go fishing at his house? that sounds pretty nice of him. he came off as all-business, but thats just the way some people are. its cool with me.

sure, there is southern hospitality, and that is nice, but not everyone is that way.

I don't care if we hire another cold fish or not as long as he wins and does it with some integrity. However I would like someone that is not constantly looking out the window of his office to see if a better deal is passing by. JMHO

I don't know if this has been mentioned because I have only read this one thread.

It seems like you guys are surprised by the way Saban treated your school and by the way he has left your school.

You must have pretty short memories or selective recognition.

Saban screwed our school right in the pooper and every Spartan across the country knew it was a matter of time before he did the same to you.

Congrats on the National Championship. Can't take that away.

    Got It?
