1. i think im finally over it, but i read yalls posts and start missing 3rd grade all over again.:yelwink2::bncry:
  2. It proves the crew he had at LSU was a much better group than the one he had at MSU. Kinda proves the point Sourdoughman made, the HC isn't the end all.......

My son starts 3rd grade this year, just prepping.......

  3. David, you know I don't post things I don't think about. I left CGS out on purpose. It seems, the point of the question is escaping most. You know where I'm going here.

A 10 win season is considered what...???

How many can SEC schools claim?
  4. Good question Terry, exactly what is a 10 win season. Looking back to 83 Bama has had 10, Tennessee has had 10, Ga. has had 7, AU has had 7, LSU has had 6. It tells me that schools are much better at scheduling non-conference foes. An occasional gem will show up, but the rent a win syndrome is alive and well. It certainly makes it easier for the rent-a-mediocre coach strategy to appear effective while in actuality being all icing, no cake.

You know my feelings about CGS, he was the only real football coach to walk the home sideline at Bryant-Denny since 1983. I will give him his due. I wish he and PDF could have challenged each other longer, but they belonged to a different era.

  5. As soon as I get back to the house I'll bring this up...the OOC thing makes me think.

<--- getting sand out of my feet.
  6. Also look at how many times it took a 13 game season to get that 10th win. When you did it with 12 games it was much more impressive. Getting there with the OCC, the extra game we have now, conference championship game, and the bowl game we should see a lot more 10 win seasons. Sure helps everyone justify that their coach is worth millions when he is a 10 win man.

Heck, if everything falls right, it would only take a .714 record to be a vaunted coach.

  7. Take that one out of the situation. The 10 win season has happened since the '20's,

  8. I haven't crunched the numbers, but I would think since some teams now get 13 and 14 games a year we will see more 10 win seasons. We maxed out at 12 games for a long, long time.
  9. I was looking over my media guide a few minutes ago and Bama claims the title in 10 win seasons more than any other school. (It was a 2004 edition) The school that is right behind us is Oklahoma..and, given recent history they very well may be ahead of us now.

In '25, as example, we played teams like Sewanee (former SEC team) and Union College, B-ham Southern. Point being, dating back to Zen Scott we've fielded teams that would win 10 games in a season. If DuBose can, Curry can, Fran can (hated typing that)...who is to say that we have unrealistic expectations?!?
  10. As long as everyone holds the rope anything is possible.:hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:
