Re: Saban meeting with Alabama today. WH will not negotiate his Dolphins contract

Nick would be successful at Bama, but he has to recruit against Auburn. The days of Bear Bryant-type dominance will not likely return. LSU could match or beat Bama's offer and had the opportunity when Nick left here. They passed on it because doubling his salary to NFL standards just wasn't cost effective. There are good coaches available for a "mere" 1.5 to 2 million dollars and we got one.

Bama is taking a big chance on this, but they are desperate and I don't blame them. It really is overpaying a coach, who also insists on top salaries for his assistants. They are buying a quick fix, not an investment for the future. If he doesn't bring home a National Championship within four years like he did at LSU . . . the money pressure could make for an ugly situation.

I think the balance of power between Auburn and Bama needs to be equalized. Maybe Saban would do that. We need Bama to beat Auburn sometimes and upset some other teams so that we can get to the SECCG.

In the long run it could help LSU. I will always love Saban for what he did at LSU. But it's all about the purple and gold baby! I can tell you this, I would never "boo" the man, I have to much respect for him.:geauxtige

I am torn over what i have heard in the media and the points that the posters have made. CNS didn't leave LSU to take the Bama job, so I don't fault him fro that. We have to remember, we are talking professional sports, not real life. They rules are different! there is no such thing as loyality anymore...$$ talks.

I appreciate what CNS did while at LSU. If he does take the Bama job, I think it will strengthen the SEC, but I am not sure that CNS going to Bama means that we'll start losing to Bama every year. I also don't think he have a big recruiting impact in our state... maybee a few will head East, but I am not worried.

Thanks for the memories CNS, but you better get your popcorn ready when you face LSU!

I know the year is young, but this has GOT to be "post of the year." I loved it.

The money might be one thing, the inablility to influence and get in the head of the pro athelete might be another. I also think Saban is getting very frustrated with the national media that a head coach in the NFL has to endure. He was able to semi control the local media here by telling them what he will and will not talk about. He will likely be able to control it in Tuscaloosa. But the national media doesn't take no for an answer and keeps peppering him with the same questions. Frustration is written all over his face at his interviews, especially that last one where he talked about wanting to go home and kiss his wife for New Years as a response to another Alabama coaching question.

That's because he's a known liar. And as for the frustration during the interviews, telling the truth just every so often would make it alot easier. :dis:

I really don't want to see Saban coaching at Bama. But at this point IMO, it looks like a certainty.

Given that I think it is going to happen, it really surprises me that Nick would make this move. Like other posters have mentioned, giving up on the NFL after only two years when he has near complete control of the team will limit his ability to get back to the NFL ever again.

And going to Bama where the meddling and expectations are both high seems like the riskiest place for him to go. A failure there and his reputation would take a huge hit. Next stop would be ESPN.

TO speaks the truth a heckuva lot more than CNS, usually to his own detriment, and espcially the detriment of his own team. He's an Id10t, but he also leads the league in TD catches, if I'm not mistaken. It's really kind of sad. I think the dude really has a disorder, maybe bi-polar or something. CNS has no such excuse, he's just a weasel. :thumb:
