Re: So Saban now wants more time...

That's a joke right. It's the biggest decision he'll make until next christmas when some other team makes a run at him. This, of course, assumes he still has the fire and can turn bama around. I have a feeling that Nick's "15 minutes of fame" are about to expire.

What I don't understand is what is Bama's upside? If Saban does well, he'll certainly leave for a better deal in a year or two. If he doesn't, Bama will be the laughing stock of the country for overpaying a washed up coach.

I have to believe that the contract from the Bama side has to have teeth in it to penalize Saban for doing this crap to them next christmas (significant buy out clause for early departure)?

In addition, I think this will cause every administration to make sure that a committment is a two way street (ie, the "Saban Clause")

    Am I wrong?

If he thought the UAB defeat was bad it's gonna be worse. I can't wait to see Coach Miles walk over to shake his hand after the game when LSU puts a beat down on his Tide!

I guess we now know how Michigan State fans felt when he left them, but at least he didn't go to a school in the same conference; not to mention the same division of the conference.

I'm just glad that he spent those few years here and got the Tigers a N.C. Hated to see him leave for Miami but based on his MO, I expected his departure. The way he left Michigan State and LSU looks very familiar to the way he will no doubt leave Miami. Actually, I think if he does go to Bama it will be good for the SEC overall. My wish has always been that the Tigers kick Bama's A** every time they play and if he's their coach that will even make it better. Never thought I'd be pulling for Auburn!

yes you are wrong. bama is in no position to demand anything and nick will have them sell their soul. if this falls through bama cannot recover so its now or never and both parties know it. this is what nick is feeding on seeing what he can extract from his host.

so if nick can give them anything close to what he gave us, it will be worth it to them. but make no mistake, little nickie dont play buyouts. especially in a desperate situation. i bet NS is a helluva poker player.

If a school invokes the "Saban Clause" what are they going to do when the team starts sucking azz and the school can't fire the coach without paying him for the rest of his life? Both sides agree to these contracts for a reason. Oh yeah if I was contracted to do a job and someone offered me 5 million bucks, I'd contract the job out and be a gone muthaaaaa!!!!

    This just in:

A hobo on a two-seat bike with a "Bear Bryant is Still Alive and Living in the Trailer Adjacent to My Ex-Wife's" license plate has been spotted in Tuscaloosa, Alabama near the overpass on McFarland Blvd. The driver of the bike stopped in front of the two story cardboard box/house that belongs to Curley Hallman. It is being reported that Alabama officials sent the transportation because they will offer the job to Hallman if Nick Saban of the Dolphins turns down their offer.

Ok maybe I should have said REAL LSU football is no where in site, because tommorrow night is not gonna be much of a game! The next REAL LSU FOOTBALL will be Sept 8th.

And another reason is everyone loves negative crap, I guess its human nature!

BUT I am excited too, acutally talked the wife into going to Hooters with me to watch the game!!!

so what if Saban doesn't go to Bama, and he has been playing them all along. that would be a blow for the Tide.
then we can all still love him, right?
