Re: Saban to be offered 40-50 million contract...

Saban had a great run at LSU, but his record at Michigan State shows what bama can expect when Saban isn't the only game in state:

    6-5-1, 6-6, 7-5, 6-6, and 10-2.

His pro record of 9-7 and 6-10 also does not show anything to get excited about.

The point is a poor coach can look average at LSU, a good coach can look great, I would rather not talk about what a great coach could do. Bama is trying to spend a lot of money on a good coach, but not the great coach that they seek.

    I dont understand you guys.

You all praise him and talk about "his talent" and still talk about the good ol days when he was coach.

How this....and you guys are talking about his ego and "screw him"...

If you were making $10 an hour on 40 hours and another job offered you $20 an hour on the same 40 hours, would you take it? ....Exactly.

Don't get you panties in a wad. Most of us have said we don't care, it's business. Many are just throwing scenerios out there. Besides, stating the obvious - like that the man has an ego - isn't a crime.

It's kinda like a bad divorce for some. I've posted my feelings more than once: I'm appreciative for what he did for us but I've also washed my hands of him. I was loyal to him like he was loyal to us.......I've also, like him, moved on.

I can't wait to see what some of our fans say after Miles unleashes his Tigers on Saban's Tide. Miles will beat his arse.

What I'm mad about is that the people of Louisiana would have given him anything he wanted and he bolted for the "challenge of the NFL". To take the job at Bama would be admitting failure on his part. He couldn't make it in the NFL in what he called the best situation. Now, Bama backs up a truck of money to his house and he might run back to the SEC? I think he should at least have the good sense to go into another conference. I also think Spurrier should have done the same thing.

He hasnt accepted anything from Bama yet, I think Id wait till the press conference. I maybe wrong but I'm betting he stays in Miami. He didn't leave LSU for money, he left to coach in the NFL. He has money, it's the super bowl ring he wants.

Why would Saban turn the Alabama job down?

Maybe Saban is using Alabama's interest to position himself for more operational control and a longer term employment commitment. Huizenga may see him as another Tom Landry or Chuck Noll.

(If that did happen, think of the devastating message it would send to Alabama recruits for years to come. A coach would have turned down the job even though he would make $7 million per year.)

What are the other real-world reasons why it is in Saban's best interest to turn it down?

If he is convinced that he WON'T get the SB ring that he so covets, then will he then go for the $$$????

I don't blame him necessarily, but it makes him look like he is talking out of both sides of his mouth.

Plus it would be AWESOME to whip his TIDE @SS.... :thumb: :geauxtige

Ding Ding Ding!!! lsutiga wins the prize and has the right attitude. I appreciate what Nick did for LSU, he turned our program around.

To win a National Championship, a LOT of things have to come together at the same time and place. The right coach, the right players, the right schedule, the right hype from the media, the correct BCS FORMULA that year (ask Auburn, if the BCS hadn't changed the formula after LSU - OU game, would they have been in the next game against USuCk? I think so.).

Was it all Saban? No, but he helped out a LOT. Does it guarantee Bama if they have him he'll win it all? No, not IMO.

He's a very good coach in college, he's shown that, he's built and improved where ever he has gone. He's adequate in the pro's, not special.

Sean Payton has done a much better job with the Saints, surely as lowly as the Dolfins when he arrived.

I wish Nick no ill, I'll view him just like Shula on the sidelines. (Nah, I'll savor a win over Nick a little bit more, I must admit.).

Re: Why would Saban turn the Alabama job down?

We already have one thread on this topic. Let's not start multiple BamaSaban threads and look like a bunch of 12 year old girls whose last boyfriend started dating the next door neighbor.

If Saban goes to Bama, we will whip his little loudmouthed butt, BUT,

Saban will whip up on the Barners.

    :hihi:
