I can only think of two players on the chart that will probably be fully game ready by August. I'm not saying that some of these guys won't play immediately. I am just saying that it takes a significant amount of time to develop most HS players into SEC caliber competitors, especially on defense. If 'Bama fans expect this whole group of players to mature overnight, I can only assume that there will be some crying and grinding of teeth in T-town this upcoming season. Richt, on the other hand, has a group of recruits that are already on campus and will benefit from Spring practice. Even with that jump, they will not be fully prepared by August with the possible exception of Tavarres King. Caleb King, who is just as good as Moreno, sat out 2007 for that very same reason.
You said TWO. But then say "you're NOT SAYING SOME won't play immediately." Granted I can be gingerly retarded at times but where I'm from in backwoods Mississippi "some" is more than two. Do you mean three?  Either way there are several players (that have been named) that realistically are capable of playing immediately. Will they? Don't know. It all depends on how much the 07 recruits have developed and how much these guys develop by game day.
There's not much "bashing" allowed over at Tidefans no matter who you are. We've had just as many Bama members suspended as outsiders. They'll allow you to say stuff like "I don't think Les Miles is that great of a coach" but when it starts getting into the "Les Miles sucks" or "LSU sucks" folks start getting time off. But what I meant was it seems that on Tidefans at times there is more talk about LSU than Bama football. And on here it seems that at times there's more Saban talk than LSU talk. So if we want to hear about our respective teams you need to go to a bama board and I need to come over here. :insane:
I've read/posted there some and found it to be very "Fair". Visitors to any football forum outside their own obviously have to be a little tight-lipped, careful of their wording, able to substantiate what they do post, and recognize certain things specific to any given program- even with factual support- don't want to be discussed.
Like I say, LSU and Bama are destined to be in tight competition for the West Division over the next few years. Mutual interest is natural. Nick having a history at both schools just adds to it.
According to ESPN its the 3rd class. Shows how subjective these things really are. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/football/columns/story?columnist=luginbill_tom&id=3233826
I hope you're right Red. But I'm one of those that is VERY cautiously optimistic knowing nothing is a guarantee. This "Top recruiting class" we just signed yesterday still has yet to play a D-1 game against any SEC caliber talent. Some will not live up to their billing and I'm sure some will. But there's a lot of work to be done before anybody (especially Bama fans) starts dusting off a spot in the trophy case. But I do think this class (from top to bottom) has more physically gifted players to work with than we've had in ten years accompanied with a coaching staff that will actually do the things needed to develop them. But again, it ain't no sure fire thing.
If a team can fall within the top ten I think it is safe to say you've got a very good class. The difference between first and fifth might not be but one maybe two players that in the ultimate end may not even pan out. I think the SEC was represented well again in the recruiting wars and probably will continue to prove that on the field.
