I don't mind Steve Spurrier coaching in the collegiate ranks again.....I just don't see LSU as a choice. Nobody likes him here....it'd be like Adolf Hitler running for presidnet of the united states!!!!

Yep, I don't think the fans would like it. But, when Curly Hallman(I still can't believe he coached LSU) was hired, Steve Spurrier wanted the job. Not sure of the specifics, but if my memory serves me, Spurrier didn't think he got a fair shake. For that reason, he had no love loss for LSU during his years at Florida. I think that's why we LSU fans hate him so much ... because he hated us so much. And he wasn't very good at hiding it. Now, like most of you, I don't see Saban leaving anytime soon(I hope). But in a nice Times Picayune article about Saban, it was mentioned that Skip Bertman realizes that his coach has his eyes on the pros. Will it happen soon? I hope not. But I do think it will eventually. After that, who knows who we'll end up with. But Steve Spurrier taking the job at LSU just might be that appology that all LSU fans have wanted from that ass. You never know.

It wasn't Hallman who got the LSU job over Spurrier. It was Mike Archer. Archer had been Bill Arnsparger's defensive coordinator and when Arnsparger left to bacome AD at Florida Joe Dean hired Archer over Spurrier. Arnsparger then hired Spurrier at Florida.

    Good post TSmith.

Thats right, Steve wanted the LSU job and we wouldn't give it to
    him.

Thank about how the last 12 years of LSU football would've been.

Then if we would've gotten Nick, Thank about what a powerhouse
LSU would've been the last decade or so.

OU would've been scared to death

I don't know if that holds any merit. I mean, yes, the possibility of any school's head coach leaving for the NFL is always there--but I doubt Spurrier would be Saban's replacement.

    1. It is widely viewed that Spurrier will take a year off first
    2. Until Saban says otherwise, he'll remain our head coach.
    3. Should Saban leave, I'm sure Jimbo Fischer and Will Muschamp would get good, hard looks to be the next head coach.

Bengal B, yeah I wasn't sure exactly when it happened. But I do remember hearing that Spurrier got passed on by LSU. Wasn't sure of the timing.
