I've got an uncle just like that. This assclown has been scamming a very large local company for whom he worked for a full disability ride for the last 10-12 years, due to a "bad back"...yet he's healthy enough to take the entire tribe to Orlando once or twice a year for a week at Disneyland. When
they send investigators out to his house to watch him, his condition mysteriously worsens...imagine that. This guy sits on his fat a$$ all day
watching TV and surfing the web...all the while thumbing his nose at said local company and drawing a full paycheck from them.

My late Grandfather (this guy's father) used to tell me that unemployment will always hover around the 5% mark simply because there are people out there who don't want to work. I don't know if he had his own son in mind when he told me that.

Tell me about it. I worked in Insurance claims for years. They claim to be disabled and can't lift anything heavier than an egg but you send out an investigator and he comes back with video of the guy unloading bags of groceries or a new lawn mower. When confronted with this evidence, his attorney says "Oh, he was having a rare good day, but he was in pain the entire next day". Or, they claim in their lawsuit that they used to have sex 7 or eight times a week but now only once a month or so. When the wife has 2 kids during during the pendancy of the litigation, the lawyer says "So what? He had 2 episodes of painful sex in 2 years". Some people are legitimately injured but most of them are con men who look for the pot of gold with the help of whore lawyers, doctors and judges. And don't even get me started on the sheer ignorance and stupidity of civil juries.

SabanFan, you just described this uncle of mine to a "T".

He's only about 9 years older than I am (my mother's little brother), so I
know for a fact that he pretty much decided early on in life that he wasn't
going to work for a living if he could avoid it. He held a variety of jobs, yet
always quit them for one reason or another (i.e., the work was too hard, etc.). Finally, he went to work for this company, and somehow got the idea in his head that he could get away w/ shamming on them...and to date, he has been successful with it.

Sorry to ramble like this...but it just galls the hell out of me that people like you and I that work for a living have to carry natural-born slackers like that.
I'm ashamed that this guy is my flesh and blood.

I know a guy who had 4 back surgeries in order to capitalize on 4 different injuries which occurred on 4 different jobs. He collected on all of them, but spent all of his money in short order. He begged and pleaded for a job but no one would touch him. Finally, a friend gave him work at his crawfish processing plant. On his first morning at work he "tripped" over a sack of crawfish and re-injured his back. Dude ought to be shot.

This is what I expect from Patrick and why I don't listen to him. As for the rest of you know it alls, until you've done what SF used to have for his sig and walked a mile in my shoes, STFU. You are only showing your ignorance, stupidity and misery in life more and more with every comment! FYI and even though it's none of your damn business, just because I am disabled doesn't mean I'm going to sit on my ass and vegetate. I'm still going to do what I can do and even some things I shouldn't do. Just because someone does something that seems normal to every one else, doesn't mean it's ok or wise for someone like me to do it. You have no idea of what is going on inside my body so I don't see where any of you self righteous hypocrites have any right to criticize me or anyone else. And also FYI, I'm not getting one penny from anything I didn't contribute to. None of you are paying one freaking penny of my disability so none of you have any right to comment on it. What a sad miserable bunch of losers you all are!

If you can play golf, you can work. Simple as that.

I think that sums it up quite nicely.

We're not the ones getting all in a twist because of what some anonymous stranger on the internet thinks. Besides, we were discussing my uncle and people like him. Methinks thou dost protest too much.

Exactly. Mike 69, you mentioned a tee time and I thought it strange since I remember you once mentioning you were disabled. I am admittedly cynical, but that's from years of seeing lazy bums try and take advantage of the system. No one mentioned you in the following posts. Guilty is as guilty does?

Sounds like you're a loser for saying you're "disabled" and playing golf.
